Alicent

Alicent had hardly stepped foot into her chamber before her servant, Clara, came bearing news.

Her father requested to meet with her.

She cursed under her breath as she tossed on a black dress and pinned her hair back. She rushed to her cluttered desk searching for something that would block the scent of sea that was radiating off of her. She snatched a tuft of lavender and rubbed the small flowers across her neck.

The walk to her fathers chambers was long and she began thinking about the tiring day she had just finished. Her eyes began to water as she thought about Rhaenyra. The day had been quite overwhelming and seeing her father only made it worse.

She stepped into his chambers and as soon as her eyes met his the tears started flowing.

"My darling." He said as he pulled her into a large embrace. "How's Rhaenyra?"

"She lost her mother."

"The Queen was well loved by all." He whispered cupping her cheek. "I found myself thinking of your own mother today." He said. Alicent hated being emotional in the presence of her father, therefore she was eager for a subject change.

"How is his grace?"

"Very low." He said pausing. "Which is why I sent for you." He said crossing the room and taking a seat at his desk. "I thought you might go to him... offer him comfort."

"In his chambers?" Alicent asked, quite confused on what exactly he was asking her to do. Her father only smiled. "I wouldn't know what to say." She said, subconsciously lifting her nails to her mouth.

"Stop that." He said causing her to drop her hand. "He'll be glad of a visitor." He finished, picking up a quill to continue with whatever it was he was doing before.

She turned to leave, the disappointment plastered across her face.

"You might wear one of your mother's dresses." He noted and she stopped mid step. How could he ask such a thing from his daughter? Alicent wasn't an imbecile. She knew exactly what he was asking her to do. But in her mother's dress?

She wouldn't.

Yet she couldn't disappoint her father. She need not even do what her father was asking, only check in on him... once.
