After eating their fill on the treats and helping Nessa and Aodhan clean the table and do the dishes, Kyiana and Caera were about to leave when the doorbell rang. Caera opened the door and saw a young lady standing with a suitcase. Her cheeks were red and she was out of breath. She must have some urgent business here, Caera thought. ‘Can I help you?’ she asked. ‘Yes, my name is Lara Careforth, they told me I could find my nephew here. His name is Ricky Jameson. He’s the son of my sister. She and her husband died in a car crash a few weeks ago. I was in France. I… I…’ tears were coming in Lara’s eyes and she couldn’t continue to talk. Caera motioned for her to enter. ‘Ricky is here. Come in and you can have a talk with Nessa and Aodhan. If you want to take Ricky then there is some paperwork for you to fill in.’ ‘That’s what I came here for. To take my nephew home with me.’ Caera smiled, happy that Ricky would be with his family. ‘Aunt Lara?’ Ricky’s voice came from inside. Ricky had just got dressed and was on his way to play in the living room when he’d heard his aunts voice. When he saw her, he immediately ran into her arms. She lifted him up and turned around with him, both of them crying tears from happiness for being together again and sadness for the loss of their dear ones.  Nessa came to see what was happening and soon took over from Caera when she understood the situation. Caera felt the tears coming up and excused herself. She walked out the door with Kyiana on her heels.

‘That was so beautiful!’ Kyiana said when she’d finally caught up with Caera. ‘I know, right.’ she answered with a soft voice. ‘Sadly, we don’t get to see that very often.’ Kyiana nodded. She’d known Caera for so long and whenever a child left the orphanage or a new child came Caera would tell her about it. She had only told her about family picking up the child twice in 18 years. Of course Caera always told her happily when a child got adopted, but family coming for the child was rare. ‘But now he’ll be with his aunt and everything will be alright.’ Kyiana said cheerfully. ‘If she can take care of him, yea…’ Caera replied. ‘What do you mean?’ Kyiana asked confused. ‘She has to fill in a lot of papers, she has to proof she can mentally, financially and physically take care of Ricky and she needs to proof she is related to him. Even though it sounds easy, it can take a few weeks, months even, before her taking Ricky is approved.’ Caera explained. ‘I just hope everything will turn out alright for him.’ Kyiana pinched her friend lightly in her arm. ‘I’m sure it will. Don’t you worry about it.’ Caera stopped walking and gave Kyiana a big hug. ‘Thanks.’ she said. ‘What for?’ Kyiana asked. ‘For being my friend, for knowing what I feel without me having to say anything, for being there for me, for being born.’ Caera said. Kyiana returned the hug. ‘Right back at ya!’ she said laughing. Caera felt relieved. She knew she had the best friend anyone could ever wish for and she was very grateful for it. Sometimes it felt more like they were sisters then just friends.

‘So were exactly are we going?’ Caera asked after they had walked a little further. ‘How ‘bout we go to the library?’ Kyiana asked. ‘My dad showed me a book there that’ll help explain a bit.’ Caera nodded and they went to the library.

The towns library was a big building with lots of windows. It had 3 floors and a flat roof where people could sit and read in the summer. It wasn’t summer yet, but the sun made it warm enough to read outside. The wind, however, made the pages dance and long hair fly in front of your eyes, making it impossible to read outside for the two girls. They went inside and walked right through to where the fantasy books were. Kyiana knew exactly where to look, for she had been there with her parents to read the same book she was about to show to Caera.  She took the book from the top shelf and walked towards the reading area where many tables were, but most chairs were taken. At one table there were still three places left. There was only one guy sitting at the table, his head lowered and his mind completely lost in the book he was holding. He looked faintly familiar. Kyiana walked up to the guy. ‘I’m sorry to disturb you, but are these seats taken?’ The guy, pulled out of the world described in his book, looked up. His eyes widened from surprise. Kyiana and Caera had the same reaction. ‘Tyler!’ they shouted. ‘Kyiana, Caera!’ Tyler shouted at the same time. From everywhere around them came annoyed looks and loud ‘Ssshhh!!!’s. They quietly apologized to the people and Kyiana and Caera took a seat on the other side of the table. ‘I didn’t know you lived in the Human World.’ Kyiana spoke first. ‘Well you never asked so… But yea, I live not so far from here.’ he replied. ‘How come we’ve never seen you before?’ she asked. ‘Uhm… hello! Chameleon!’ he said while pointing at himself. ‘It’s in my nature to blend in and have a low profile.’ Caera sniggered.
