First of all, sorry for the long wait. My inspi seemed to have booked an unexpected vacation of 3 months. It's a very whimsical little thing, my inspi. It can be here for one day and gone the next. I'll try to keep it with me as long as possible, but let's just enjoy the time it gives us. Here's the next part of Monster School.

Caera walked through the hallway, with Devlin and Faolan beside her. In her head she tried to process all that she had heard from the principle. ‘Okay,’ she thought. ‘so there are several realms in the Monster World. That’s not so difficult to understand. It’s like in the Human World where there are different countries with different nationalities. Then there’s Nithalah, the Kingdom of Magic. Sounds to me like Never Never Land with a touch of Hocus Pocus. Safiyah, Powaqa,... weird names.’

‘Here we are!’ Devlin cheered, pulling Caera out of her thoughts. They were standing in a large hallway with on each side normal looking white doors for as far as the hallway stretched. Caera couldn’t see the end of the hallway, on either side. ‘Have we been walking for that long?’ she asked herself. Next to the door in front of them was a little glass plate. ‘Devlin, Faolan, Caera’ was written on it in graceful, golden letters. Faolan opened the door and with a grand gesture he took a bow. ‘Welcome in our humble...’

‘Yeah, yeah,’ Caera interrupted him while walking through the door. ‘I’m hungry, I’m tired. Let’s just go in.’ In all the commotion Caera hadn’t had a chance to eat anything. Even though her real body was still in the human world and the Caera in the Monster World was only a projection of her. The feeling of hunger was real. Even though a lot was different here, the power of the mind was as great as in the Human World. If you thought about being hungry or sick for long enough, you’ll eventually really start feeling that way. So even though the food she’d eat here wouldn’t really reach her stomach, the feeling of hunger would disappear. Faolan had promised her that she’d be okay where he had left her in the Human World and she trusted him.

Devlin went ahead and closed the curtains. Caera couldn’t really see anything through the windows because it was already dark outside even though it was still early in the evening. She saw a clock hanging on the wall next to her and noticed it wasn’t even 7pm yet.

She looked around and really needed some time to take in what was in front of her. She had expected a room with three beds and three desks, a closet and that would be it, but what she saw was an enormous, luxurious apartment. In the middle of the room was a lounge. Faolan let himself fall onto the beige sofa, where at least eight people could sit on, Caera thought. A neat looking glass table was set on a white, fluffy carpet in front of the sofa with a colorful arrangement on it. On the wall opposite of the sofa hang a large flatscreen tv. Faolan was flicking through the channels with a bored look on his face.

‘You can close your mouth now.’ Devlin smirked. ‘What did you expect?’

‘Our world is just as advanced as the Human World is, maybe even further.’ Faolan said, hanging on the sofa lazily.

Devlin walked into an adjacent room while Caera walked over to the bookcase on the opposite side of where the clock was hanging. It contained mostly history books and books about the school. There were some theory books about the classes given at Monster School and a photo album of the school.

‘You said you were hungry?’ Devlin shouted from the other room. ‘What would you like?’

Caera followed his voice and walked into what appeared to be a kitchen and diningroom. In the middle of the room was a long, wooden table, set for eight people. Devlin was rummaging in the big fridge, taking out some vegetables and butter. ‘I can make spaghetti, or a light salad, or would you rather eat steak with fries?’ he shouted, not realising Caera had already come in. He was so focussed on the food in the fridge he hadn’t used his senses. ‘I didn’t know you could cook!’ Caera screamed, startling Devlin so much he hit his head on a shelf in the fridge.

‘You didn’t have to shout.’ Devlin said, rubbing the back of his head. ‘Neither did you.’ Caera replied with a grin on her face. Devlin smiled back at her softly. ‘Glad you can smile again.’ he said, then turned back to the fridge. ‘So what can I make you?’

‘I’ll take the spaghetti.’ Caera said after thinking about it. ‘It’s been a while.’ Devlin took what he needed and starting chopping vegetables, putting the water on to boil. Caera took place on the seat at the bar which separated the kitchen from the dining area. ‘I didn’t think you could cook.’ she said again. Devlin looked at her, a little insulted. ‘One of the first things you should learn about this world is that things are ‘almost’ never what they seem. It’s not that I can’t appreciate food, just because I’m a vampire. Blood is critical for me. I need it to survive, but I can eat other things too.’ Faolan walked into the room, looking really sleepy. ‘For example,’ Devlin said, taking a ladle in his hand and pointing at Faolan with it. ‘Faolan looks like a lazy bum, and in reality, he is a lazy bum. So that’s one of the few things that actually are the way it seems.’ Faolan growled and Caera tried her best not to laugh, but couldn’t help a little giggle coming out. ‘Don’t laugh, it’s not funny.’ Faolan spoke in her head. ‘I’m sorry Faolan, but it is just a little funny.’ Caera replied telepathically.

‘Stop doing that!’ Devlin yelled angrily. ‘What?!’ Caera asked, startled by the sudden outburst. ‘That sharing your mind stuff. It’s annoying! It’s like you’re talking behind my back.’ Devlin said. ‘Aww, ish the wittle bat jeawoush?’ Faolan teased. Caera gave him an reprimanding look. ‘I’m sorry Devlin, if I could do it with you too, I would. It’s very handy to be able to share my mind if I can’t talk or to have someone to help me out when I get stuck in my own mind again.’ Devlin looked less angry. ‘So if there is a way you can share your mind with me too, you would?’ Caera nodded. ‘Good, there is a way. But first, we’ll eat. The spaghetti is ready.’
