Faolan pushed one of the wooden doors open and made a little bow while gesturing Caera to go in. Caera laughed and walked past him through the open doorway into a large room. Monsters were everywhere. In the middle of the room they were chatting, dancing and laughing. At the right side of the room stood tables filled with all kinds of delicious foods and drinks. The smells reached her and made her mouth water. Her stomach made a rumbling noise reminding her that she hadn’t eaten for a while. In the back of the room was a huge music installation placed with a dj in the middle playing loud music. Across the room on the opposite side of the tables with food and drinks were tables and chairs where monsters were sitting and chatting, relaxing after dancing or just avoiding the crowd.
I think Kyiana must have skipped this room when she gave me the tour around the school. she thought.
She heard Faolan snort behind her and realised she had send the thought to him.
I really need to learn how to control this.
Faolan walked next to her and put his hand reassuringly on her shoulder. Don’t worry, you’ll get the hang of it soon enough. he thought to her before disappearing in the crowd of dancing monsters.
Caera looked around, trying to spot her best friend in the mass of monsters. She noticed most of the monsters were dressed in jeans with white shirts and colorful jackets and the girls were wearing dresses. Caera started to feel out of place. This is just like a school dance. she thought.
This IS a school dance. Faolan answered in her head.
Then what was this bonding even Kyiana was talking about? Caera was getting confused.
That’s tomorrow. Today is all about having fun and relaxing.
Caera sighed. She really needed to find Kyiana and have a good talk with her about punctuality and specific mentioning of future events...
She didn’t have to look for long, because Kyiana suddenly appeared out of nowhere hugging her so tight that she almost choked.
‘How did you do that?’ she asked her friend surprised. Kyiana let go and pointed with her thumb behind her where Tyler was standing. Caera looked at the two in confusion.
‘We’ll show you.’ Kyiana said with a big grin, jumping back to stand next to Tyler. She grabbed his hand and a second later they were both gone. Disappeared into thin air. Nowhere to be seen.
‘That’s AWESOME!!’ Caera exclaimed with excitement. ‘Do you have any idea how much fun things we can do with that?’ She thought about ways to scare Faolan with it.
Don’t even think about it. he said to her. I can smell you from miles away AND I can hear your thoughts, so... not gonna happen, girl.
Awww. Caera thought disappointed.
Didn’t you need to scold Kyiana for something?
‘Right!’ she suddenly said loudly. Kyiana and Tyler reappeared right in front of her. ‘I almost forgot.’ Caera pointed at Kyiana closing her eyes half. ‘I need to have a word with you.’
