Bailey

She was a beautiful woman who had skin the color of sun kissed beaches. Finally, we could be together. She was finally a woman, and I was going to be her man. 

Sure, she was 7 years my junior. Sure, her family was from the cheap side of town but that doesn't change that I want to make her mine and I want to make sure she knows she is beautiful. 

Catcalling her would be the quickest way to look at me. Not the most respectful but hey sometimes you just have to chase to get some love. 

"Hey chica, come give me some love" I holla at her. She turns her head and looks back at her mom. Her mom looks at me and sighs. All I can make out is "what can I do? They do the same in Mexico City, and its worse" she mouthed. 

She looked back to me, and I know she was talking to her mom, but it felt like it was towards me. "It's still disgusting. Sitting there on a porch step calling to all the girls in the neighborhood so you can get tail. A real man knows how to court a lady and didn't try to do some Alpha Hollywood shit. Grow up and then talk to me."

I was so pissed how quickly she turned me down. I wanted to pin her to the wall and tell her how lucky she would be to have me. How I could take care of her and provide her everything she needs. I wanted her to know any woman would be damn lucky to have me and that I would be a perfect match for her in every way. 

By the time I got my mind to clear, she was gone. Not just walking in the opposite direction, no she was gone from view, gone from the little porch step, and so far out of reach. Being a certified idiot and listening to Hollywood or very outdated social norms never worked out for guys like me. 

I should have listened to my mom and her mom and started softer. I should have been complimenting her and giving her flowers. I should have kissed her hand and asked her on a date like any normal person. I should be the one holding her hand and making her happy. God the dating world is confusing today.
