Chicken

Andr and I walked back to the city amidst a setting sun. She was holding onto my arm and smiling happily. She was quietly humming to herself as we neared the city. I heard them before I saw them. Steve and someone else were talking and laughing loudly as they came into view. I stopped outside the gate with Andr and watched them approach.

"Who are they?" She asked me as she took a step behind me to partially hide herself. Before I could answer her, Steve spotted me and yelled as he started running to me with the girl tailing right behind him, "MIKE! HEY!"

I released a sigh and replied, "What's up? Find something interesting?'

He stopped in front of me and smiled, "You bet I did!" He held out the chicken he was carrying in his arms, "This little guy!"

I released a sigh of disdain. "Not what I meant. I'm talking about the female creeper following behind you like a lost puppy dog," I said motioning to the girl standing next to him.

His eyes gleamed as if he remembered something, "Oh yeah! This is Cupa and she is going to be staying with us from now on."

She gave us a small smile, "Hello."

"Alright, I don't mind, but we should probably find Josh," I said walking into the gate with Andr following close behind.

Entering the building that a villager had pointed out to us, I found him asleep on a couch, with whom I guess was Kennadi, asleep on his shoulder. They both woke up when we entered and gave us all a curious look.

Before anyone could ask any questions, Steve yelled remembering something, "I forgot to drop all the resources I gathered off at the resource building! I'll be back in a few minutes." With that he and Cupa ran out of the house, leaving a chicken in his place.

"Why is there a chicken in here?" Joshed asked tiredly. I just shrugged my shoulders shaking my head. Then all of a sudden everyone's stomach growled loudly and we all turned our eyes to the chicken standing in the middle of the room. "I've got a furnace," Josh said hungrily.

"And I've got some bread and cheese," Kennadi added in.

A couple minutes later Steve and Cupa came back breathlessly, "Hey guys! Sorry about that!" He noticed us eating some chicken sandwiches and said, "Hey that looks good! Can we have some?" He suddenly started looking around frantically before asking, "Hey were did my chicken go?" Then it dawned on him. "You ate my chicken," he said in a quiet voice.

Josh swallowed what he was chewing and answered, "We all did. We were hungry."

"YOU ATE MY CHICKEN!" He yelled lunging towards Josh.

"SO WHAT! IT WAS JUST A CHICKEN AND IT WAS DELICIOUS!" He yelled jumping up and slamming into Steve knocking them to the floor. They started rolling around on the floor, taking hits and giving insults to each other. I just sat there with Andr, eating the sandwiches. When I finished my sandwich, I burped loud enough for Steve to hear.

They stopped rolling around on the floor and Steve gave me a death stare. "Excuse me," I said staring back at him. I saw some sweat roll down his face as he weighed his options. He went back to fighting Josh. "We've got a long day ahead of us. If we're going to sleep, we will have to find somewhere else," I said to Andr. She then grabbed my arm and teleported us to a room downstairs.

"Is this good enough?" She said looking me in the eyes. Dang it. She caught me off guard again.

"Thanks," I said slightly blushing. We both fell asleep with her resting her head on my shoulder.
