Safe and Sound

"Well that's one way," I heard Steve say again.

"Oh shut up," I said groaning to the pain in my back. The wither affect sucks really badly. I turned to find Mason and Ruby looking at us in amazement. "So now we have to go all the way back across the ghast's mine field and the bridge?"

They both looked at each other hesitantly. "Actually there's a portal right over there," Mason said pointing to a portal a little ways from us. I hadn't noticed before.

"So....... Why didn't we use that?" Josh asked a little annoyed.

"The Wither was guarding it and we would have been killed as soon as we stepped through the portal," Ruby said.

"You heard her. Now let's go home," I said standing up and walking towards the portal.

Stepping through the portal, I could see that it had just turned night. "Well that was interesting," Cupa said shivering at the sudden temperature change.

"You can s-" Kennadi started to say, before she was attacked by a zombie. I reflexively slammed the zombie into a tree with my fist, but not before she was bitten. I watched as Josh ran to her side and freeze as she turned into a zombie villager.

"What? W-Why?" I heard Josh ask as he fell to his knees. He was in shock and didn't move when she started moving towards him.

"Steve!" I yelled as I quickly built up a little hut to block out the sun.

"Got it!" He said pulling Josh away from Kennadi's attack. I picked her up, restraing her, and threw her into the hut, sealing it off.

We had come out of the portal near New Napal. Quickly weighing my options, I put on a black cloak I had made in case I needed to get somewhere quickly and stealthy.

"Once people find out about this, they WILL attack this place. Defend her until I get back." I said pulling up a mask to cover half of my face.

"Where are you going?" I heard Cupa ask. I watched as Steve tried to talk some sense into Josh.

"I'm going to find a cure," I said walking up to Josh. I put my hand on his shoulder, "Defend her."
