Harumi's P.O.V
If I was going to start 'hanging out' with the ninja, I had to plan beforehand. It sounded so ridiculous even to me. Planning how to be friends with the ninja. Ha! Who would have thought it would ever come to this? I slowly walked through the monastery hallways, going extra slowly in case I bump into one of the ninja before I finish planning. I shuddered internally at the thought. I hated being unprepared for things. Just hope I don't—-
"Woah!",Jay exclaimed as we almost hit each other square on the head as I entered the corridor. If it weren't for me side-stepping the last-minute...oh no. I still haven't planned what to say yet! What do I do? What do I do?!
"Oh", I said, acting surprised,"Jay! How are you doing?"
I saw Jay take a small gulp. I frowned. Did I do something wrong? Oh right. He always knew me as the Quiet One, the one who demanded to bow down before Emperor Garmadon, not at all the one who would be right there infront of him, asking how are you. I almost forgot. I mentally slapped myself.
"Uh...", Jay said after a short, yet awkward pause,"I-um, I'm doing okay, thanks Harumi."
He gave me a small smile. I tried to smile back but I felt kinda bad for scaring him. The plan was not going well so far! He probably thinks I'm a—
"Harumi?", Jay asked, he asked in a slightly concerned tone,"Are you—okay?"
He was asking if I was okay?
Why wouldn't I be okay?
...Was I okay?
"Uh—ya. Fine. Totally fine.Just...getting my head round things. Gosh, this monastery is big!", I exclaimed.
Jay's concerned expression changed into a slight frown,"Yeah well, we did rebuild it after the whole...you know."
I do know. I was the one who's responsible for destroying it in the first place. My eyes prickled at the thought.
"Uh..", I managed to mumble, shuffling nervously from foot to foot,"I'm gonna go—uh—that way."
I scrambled away, deftly avoiding Jay's slightly accusing frown. Or, it probably just looked accusing to me. As I was dazed by my thoughts, I ended up in the ninja's 'game-room'.
Or, at least I thought it was, since Kai and Cole were glued to the screens, game-consoles being pressed rather aggressively. I ran out of the room, cursing for my absent-mindedness. Where was Lloyd? I entered the courtyard and found myself staring at Nya and PIXAL, who were setting up new defenses across the monastery.
I was almost sure they wouldn't notice my presence, but Nya has sharp senses. She turned, and, when her eyes met mine, a disapproving look clouded over her features. I cringed internally.
"Good Morning Nya,"I greeted quietly, showing a small wave,"PIXAL."
Nya merely nodded and went back with her work.
PIXAL was nicer though.
"Good Morning Harumi.", PIXAL greeted back,"Did you sleep well?"
I nodded,"Need any help? I'll be willing to give it a few tweaks of my own."
Before PIXAL could reply, Nya cut her off.
"No,"Nya quickly said,"We're almost done Harumi."
"Oh...",I said,"Well...um—call me if you need anything?"
My statement came out as a question as I tried to address Nya. She wouldn't even look at me. PIXAL herself seemed to notice that too. She frowned at Nya. When Nya gave no sign of responding whatsoever, PIXAL turned to me.
"Of course Harumi,"PIXAL said,"We sure need all the help we can get."
"Call me Rumi", I said. It was the least thing I could do to make them feel close to me in someway. But that only made Nya seem angrier. I could have sworn I heard her teeth snap. I refrained from gulping in fear.
"I'll-g-go I guess," I muttered as I turned to go back inside.
"Rumi,"PIXAL called gently. I turned, feeling slightly confused.
"If you're looking for Lloyd,"she smiled as she continued," He has gone with Misako to get some scrolls. He didnt exactly say the reason for it but he said that it was important. They are probably on their way."
"Oh, that's great!,"I exclaimed, a little too enthusiastically,"Ill just—go now, Bye!"
I ran for it. Literally. I ran straight towards my room without even looking back. I slammed the door shut, the back of my head on the door. I heaved a shaky breath. I'm still not ready for this. They still weren't ready or willing to trust me, so how was I supposed to gain their trust back? I glumly walked to the edge of my bed and buried my palms in my face. I wanted to scream. I wanted to throw something. I wanted to cry. But I didn't. Instead, I just tightly shut my eyes closed, my hands tightly cupping my face.
It was too soon when I heard a knock on the door.
"Go away", I muttered weakly, feeling slightly nauseated. I didn't dare take my hands off my face even as I heard someone come in. All I tried to focus on was the sickening feeling inside me. Was this normal?
"Rumi?", an-all to a familiar voice called. I buried my face as deep as I could beneath my palms. Impeccable Timing.
