Chris POV

I know Mia didn't miss the annoyed look on my face when Scott invited her to Christmas. It wasn't aimed at her, I know what he is trying to do and I'm just not ready. I feel like I should explain to her before she gets the wrong idea.
"Hey Mia"  I shout as she walks back to the stage.
"It's okay Chris, I won't come to Christmas"
"No wait" I gently grab her wrist and turn her to face me.
"I know you could tell I was annoyed but that wasn't because of you"

"Okay?"
"Scott is pushing me to date and I'm not ready"
"Oh" she smiles "don't worry chris I'm not ready to date anyone. I had a really rough year and my relationship was at the centre of it so really I'm not going to get the wrong idea here"
I take a deep breath "this is going to sound bad but I'm happy to hear that"
She laughs "look being the newbie round here means I don't really have any friends so if you can offer me friendship I would definitely take you up on that"

"I can do that" she sticks her hand out and I shake it.
"Well I gotta get back up there before my sister kicks my ass"
"Okay. Good luck"
"Thank you"
She walks to the back of stage and I make my way back to my family.
"She's seems lovely" my mum says and she smiles widely at me.
"Don't think about it mum. She just agreed with me, neither one of us are in a place to date right now. She just wants a friend"

"Mmmmm ok. We will see"
I shake my head and pick Luca up on my shoulders so he can see the stage better. When Mia and her sister walk out everyone cheers and they sing a few more Christmas songs. She really does sound amazing. Just as they finish I hear tara shout.
"Omg!"
"What?"
"I just realised who she is, she is New York's bestseller. She writes romantic novels with a lot of sex in"

"Trust you to know that Tara"
"Hey. It's good stuff"
"Don't be weird around her ok. I know what that feels like"
"I won't. Please I've had plenty of practice with you"
I laugh and we head over to the big tree in the town square. They always have carol singers.

We get set up ready to listen when I feel a hand on my shoulder, as I look around it's Mia. She is holding a lot of hot chocolate.
"That's a lot of hot chocolate"
She laughs "well I kind of owed you one and I couldn't buy yours without everyone else's"
She passes them around and everyone says thank you. Luca is so happy to be having another one. Christmas is his favourite time of year.

"Your Mia Stenton right?"
"Yeah I am"
"I love your books"
"Thank you"
Tara hooks her arm through Mia's "your writing more right?"
Mia laughs "yes I am"
"Yay!! Your my new best-friend"
"Hey! What about me?"

"Your old news now Mr Human Torch"
"Thanks Tara"
Mia starts laughing and I can't help but join in.
We stand and listen to the singing and it's beautiful, I see Mia wipe away a tear and it makes me smile. She seems to be someone who is very strong but is also not afraid to show her emotions. After the singing, Luca starts to get tired so I decide to head home. Mia is heading out too, so we all walk to the car park after saying goodbye to everyone.

"Thanks for letting me tag along today Chris"
"Not a problem, I think my family really like you"
"There pretty amazing your very lucky"
"I think so. Anyway I'll see you later" I start to make my way home when Mia shouts
"Wait Chris let me take you home. He is nearly falling asleep bless him"
"Yeah okay. Thank you"

We pull up outside my home and I grab a now sleeping Luca from the back of the car.
"Why don't you put your number in my
Phone and then we can stay in contact"
"Yeah okay" She puts her number in my phone and sends a text to herself
"Okay. I'll see you later" she kisses Luca on his head and gets back in the car.
"See you Mia and thank you again for the ride"
She drives away and I head on inside, taking Luca straight to bed and then hitting the shower.
Mia was lovely and I'm so glad we were becoming friends.
