You fidgeted nervously in the passenger seat of Chaewon's car. You're parked in the driveway of your parents house-you were invited over for dinner after years of not speaking, under the claim that they wanted to check up on you and see how you were doing. You had asked if you could bring a friend, using the excuse that you would feel more comfortable if you did. Truth is, you brought your girlfriend and you were planning on coming out to them.

"Babe," Chaewon placed a hand on your thigh, stopping it from bouncing. "What's got you so worked up? Why's my baby so nervous?" She looked over at you with curious eyes.

You gulped and tugged at the collar of your shirt until she gently pulled your hand into hers. You sighed, "M-My parents were a little... reserved, back when I was on speaking terms with them-that's why I didn't come out back then. And I haven't seen them in so long so it's gonna be really awkward and-"

You were cut off by Chaewon leaning over and placing her lips on yours. When she pulled away, she placed her forehead on yours before speaking in a quiet but reassuring voice, "Look. It never hurts to try. Who knows, maybe they're different. Either way, whatever happens, I'm here. I won't let anything bad happen to you. Okay? I'm right here."

You nodded.

You both got out of the car, shut the doors, and then made your way up to the front door. You knocked and then waited a few moments before the door swung open.

You and Chaewon both bowed to your mother as you were let inside, then you took off your shoes and were led to the living room.

You looked at your mother nervously. "So, how have you been?" You asked.

Your mother gave you a small smile. "I've been good, dear. It's been so long since we've last spoken. Me and your father missed you." She admitted. Then she turned to Chaewon. "You're a friend of my daughter, I assume?"

Chaewon nodded. "Uh... Yes, ma'am. A very close friend." She said before looking over at you.

You were about to change the subject, but then your father entered the living room and told you all that the food was ready. You all stood up and made your way to the dining room.

You and Chaewon sat next to each other, while your mother and father sat across from you.

"So, honey," Your father spoke up after a few minutes of you all eating silently. "How have you been?" He asked, offering you a kind smile.

You gulped and drank some water before answering. "I-I'm doing good, abeoji. I was accepted into a great university last year, I've got a stable job, and a nice apartment. Things are going well for me." You explained.

He hummed. He remained silent for a few moments before asking his next question. The one that you were dreading.

"Have you found yourself a boyfriend yet?"

The table fell silent as you bit your lip. Your parents looked at you expectantly, while Chaewon squeezed your hand under the table.

"Actually," You started nervously. "I have something to tell you both." You lifted your intertwined hands and gently set them down on the table. Chaewon smiled at you and you returned the gesture, feeling a little more calm. "Chaewon isn't just a friend. I lied. She's my girlfriend."

Another round of silence made itself known. You shifted in your seat, wanting your parents to say something. Something nice.

You flinched at your mother's reaction, though.

"Absolutely not!" She scoffed, throwing down her napkin. "We did not raise you like this, Y/N. You, young lady, should know more than anybody that this type of- of behavior is anything but tolerated in this house. What is wrong with you, child?" She barked.

You leaned closer to Chaewon and tried to defend yourself. "Mama, dad, look, this is just who I am and I-"

"No." Your father interjected. "Get out of this house immediately."

"Dad-"

"Don't make me get up from this table."

You gasped and froze in your seat. It wasn't until you felt Chaewon tugging you up from your chair that you came back to reality. Your parents despise you now. You're a disgrace.

Before you headed for the door, however, Chaewon placed a hand on the table and leaned over it. "By the way, your daughter's a damn good kisser." She said with a smirk.

After that, Chaewon led you to the door, while your parents quickly stood up.

As you and Chaewon were putting your shoes back on, you heard your mother's cold voice.

"And don't even think about coming back here until you've grown out of this phase."

This made you snap.

"It's not a phase, dammit! I love her! I'm into girls and I always have been. And there is nothing, nothing you can do to change that. Kim Chaewon is the love of my life and I am proud of that part of me, you got it? I don't need your approval, I never did. I don't know why I thought I did. And you know what? I don't need either of you. I've been doing perfectly fine on my own without both of you, and the only person I need in my life to keep me going is my girlfriend, because I know she'll never judge me like you guys are! Goodbye."

With that, you ushered Chaewon out the door and then slammed it shut after you. You power walked to the car and then got in it, followed by Chaewon.

You both sat in silence for a while, unmoving.

"Baby." Chaewon called out.

You hummed in response.

"I'm proud of you. So, so proud." She spoke quietly. She took your hand in hers and brought it up to her lips, pressing a chaste kiss to the back of your hand. "I know that stuff like that isn't easy, you know I do. So I'm proud of you. I love you."

You smiled at her and leaned over the console to press your lips against hers. When you pulled away, you leaned up and kissed her forehead. "I love you too."
