Silence. A suffocating silence lingered in the air as time seemed to flow in slow motion for you.

Why did it have to be like this? Why was everybody so against your love? Your true love. No matter what either of you did, tried to do, or tried not to do, your efforts were always in vain. You were always on the run, always looking over your shoulder, always watched, and always kept in line. By people who couldn't accept.

Yunjin had lost her authority. You had lost your loved ones. Eunchae is gone, Sakura has completely turned his back on Yunjin, and Sunghyuk still has power. Chaewon, Kazuha, Hanni, and Karina are gone. The only thing you haven't lost is Yunjin.

Tonight was going to be your final attempt. Your final attempt at escaping the facility. Your final attempt at showing the facility workers-showing the government-that you are one. You and Yunjin are in love and in this together.

Your final attempt at trying to hold on to and avenge the loved ones you've lost.

You're doing this for Chaewon. For Eunchae. For Kazuha. For Hanni. For your parents. For Karina. For Yoongi and Minji's belief in you. For everyone who died on the journey, and for everyone who had faith, trust, and belief in you. For the chance to prove to everyone that you're in love with each other.

That you either live together, or you'll die together.

Tonight was the night. You knew it would probably be pointless, but you tried anyway.

You and Yunjin ran out the back entrance, across the facility's garden, over the fence, and through the trees. The wind flowing through your hair made you feel alive. The tree branches hitting your skin, and the grass blades crunching beneath your shoes made this all feel so much more real.

If she dies tonight, you die with her.

Plans went south when you were ambushed.

You and Yunjin were thrown in the air, and then hit the ground with force. Your heads spun from the impact. Yunjin's ears rang as she looked around, seeing nothing but flames dancing in front of her eyes. Turning to her left, she spotted you and crawled to your body. Every move sent waves of pain throughout her own body, but it didn't stop her. Nothing ever did.

She shook your body until you stirred awake. You were immediately startled, but as soon as you snapped out of your daze, you instantly brought her into your arms.

"Fuck. I love you. Yunjin, I-I love you so, so much," you whispered, pulling her into a desperate kiss. She pulled away, only to peck your lips again, tears falling from her glassy eyes. You cried with her.

"I- I love you too. You'll always know that. I- I-" Her speech slurred as she collapsed in your arms. A silver dart fell from her shoulder, almost instantly depriving her body of all feeling, leaving her numb-conscious and verbal, however.

"You bastards!" You shouted to beyond the fire, knowing that the facility workers, including Sakura and Bibi, were on the other side.

"You never could get over the thought of us being happy, could you?! Did it ever occur to any of you, that maybe, just fucking maybe, this wasn't such a big deal?! Huh!?" You cried. You tightened your grip on Yunjin's body, cradling her in your arms as her breathing became labored.

Crystal-like tears continued to fall from her eyes as she stared up at you, admiring your features for what would most likely be the last time.

"Y/N..." she whispered. You cried out again, shaking your head as heartbreaking sobs racked your body. "Y/N... Y/N... My love, please look at me." Yunjin continued to call out to you until she finally looked you in the eyes, a dazed look in her own.

"Y/N, I- I love you. I love you. And, hey- Even if we die, we'll m-meet again. I love- I- I-" Yunjin began to choke on her words as blood dripped from her nose and more spilled past her lips. Her body jerked continuously. Your jaw dropped and your vision blurred further as you cried loudly, holding her body closer to his own. You shut your eyes tightly. You couldn't bear to watch the love of your life slip away in your arms.

"I love you, baby," you whispered.

You only opened your eyes once you felt Yunjin's movements come to a stop. You stared at her body, not regretting a single thing that you've done together.

"Wait for me," you murmured, closing Yunjin's eyes.

You kissed her forehead and fixed her clothes, before using your free hand to grab your backpack. From the bag, you pulled out a gun. You wanted your death to haunt Sakura and everyone at the facility for years in return for what they've turned your lives into.

You pressed the barrel of the gun to your own stomach and looked at the fire. "I hope that this is what you wanted, Miyawaki Sakura!" You shouted.

A single tear rolled down a porcelain cheek, and a voice called out, "No!"

But it was too late. A deafening gunshot echoed throughout the woods. Blades of grass, if not already burnt to a crisp, were painted red.

Your body went limp as you fell over with Yunjin lying still in your arms.

With your blurred vision, you could make out a figure emerging from around the side of the fire, frantically running towards you, trying to remove Yunjin from your arms. With your last bit of strength, you shook your head and slightly tightened your grip on her, gently tucking her head into the crook of your neck.

You could make out the figure backing away, falling to the ground and crying into their hands.

"We... did it for- for each other..." you trailed off, coughing up blood halfway through as your breathing ceased. You managed to let go of one last tear before your head dropped. Your eyes remained open, staring into those of the blurry figure.

They quietly sobbed, caressing your cheek and stroking Yunjin's hair. They found the sight to be the most heartbreaking thing they've ever had to witness.

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry," Those were the last words Sakura spoke before she stood up. She let her tears flow freely as she picked up Yunjin's body and hooked an arm around yours to drag you, using every bit of strength to carry you through the burning woods. She was going to let you rest, but first, she was going to take you back home.

This event only made her realize two things. One thing was that she never should have gotten in the way of true love, a love so pure between two people who completed each other.

As for the second realization, she realized that the facility needs to change. And that change starts with her.

You quickly ran down the street, trying not to be late for your fourth interview this week.

You crossed the street without realizing that your phone had fallen out of your unzipped bag. By the time you realized, the light had already turned green, but you didn't notice that key detail.

You stuck your arm out, wanting to run out and grab it, but another hand grabbed your own, pulling you back and spinning you around, only for you to collide with a chest.

"What in the hell is wrong with you? God, I swear, you remind me of someone I-"

You looked up from the chest when the woman paused, only to be face-to-face with someone you never thought that you would see.

"Yunjin?!"

"Y/N?!"

From the distance, a figure smiled before turning away and walking into the crowded streets.
