kazuha › the great mermaid

The water was cool against your skin. Golden scales glistened under the bright rays of sun hitting the water's surface. You were shyly peeking your head out from behind one of the giant boulders underneath the beach pier. Only your eyes were visible, as you looked around, making sure that there was no one around.

Once you saw that the coast was clear, you hoisted yourself up onto the rock, swinging your tail back and forth in the water-a habit of yours.

"I wonder what Nakamura Kazuha is doing right now," you thought aloud.

Nakamura Kazuha is the name of the human girl you've come to love watching at the pier. Everyday, while your sisters are busy maintaining order in your sea territory, you enjoy coming to the surface to watch her. You watch her as she walks along the beach collecting seashells, sings at the pier while weaving bracelets, or as she stands in the ankle-deep water, looking effortlessly gorgeous.

"Hello?"

You squealed and slid off of the rock and into the water. In the process, you cut your tail, but that was the least of your worries, as you watched a human walk under the pier and sit down on a rock.

"Hello? Is anyone here?" You heard the voice say. "I swear I saw someone," they mumbled.

You recognized the voice after your initial fear died down. Kazuha.

You slowly peeked your head out from the water, cautiously swimming a few feet closer to Kazuha, who was looking around in confusion.

"H-Hi," you mumbled.

Kazuha's eyes widened as she nearly fell off of the rock. She threw her arms up as she eyed your head in fear. "Where the hell did you come from?" She asked. She slowly lowered her arms.

You took this as an opportunity to come closer. "From the water." You had never seen Kazuha so closely before, so you almost couldn't believe just how gorgeous she really is.

"The water?"

"Yes. I live in the water."

"Are you messing with me?" Kazuha asked skeptically.

You quickly shook her head, having barely any hesitation-or thought-as you revealed your torso and showed off your shimmery tail.

Kazuha felt as if she were going crazy. In place of legs, there was a magnificent tail attached to your lower half, covered in beautiful golden scales. Your chest was covered by a seemingly handcrafted bra that was bedazzled with stones, shiny gems, and seashells. What shocked her more was your smile. It was oddly very endearing to her. She felt the urge to hold you, but she ignored it.

"Y-You're a-a- a m-mermaid?"

"Yep!" You giggled. You swam up to Kazuha's rock, propping yourself up on your elbows as you looked up at her with wide, innocent eyes. "Surprised?" You asked, raising your eyebrows with a content grin.

Kazuha nodded. "Very. So... If you're a mermaid, what are you doing so close to the pier? Aren't you afraid of people seeing you?" She asked.

You nodded your head, still smiling. You hoisted yourself up onto the rock that Kazuha was sitting on, and turned to face her.

"Wanna know something?" You asked, pointing at the golden locket around your neck.

Kazuha nodded, curious, but what you said next shocked her (and made her blush).

"My mother always told me to go after what I want. And I want you."
