Chaeyoung smiles at the descending figure of Tzuyu from the Chou mansion's stairway. "Ready?"
"Yep." The cheer captain smiles back shortly, then rolls her eyes. "But Nayeon Unnie's still upstairs."
The soccer ace scoffed. "Seriously. She always takes too long to get ready every year."
The two girls walked towards the living room's sofa and consecutively sat there comfortably. Tzuyu is currently wearing a long semi-formal gown while Chaeyoung is in a casual black dress. Both of them are wearing stilettos and dolled up with makeup and expensive accessories all over.
Tzuyu continued to speak. "Well, we both know she still saves us from all those business talks every year so we definitely can't go without her. We can't survive that dinner without Nayeon Unnie. She is basically like our savior."
"I agree." Chaeyoung smiles widely. "Or more like that is because she's the only one who is actually interested in those business deals. I'm actually wondering why you were the one who was set up for the fixed marriage since Nayeon looked perfectly fit for the job."
"Hmm... Maybe that is because dad is so close now to Jeongyeon Unnie?" Tzuyu faintly chuckles. "I bet he would be the first one to be broken hearted in any case that those two lovebirds would break up."
The soccer ace also laughs. "That's a good point."
The cheer captain shrugs. "Well, Nayeon Unnie is still managing the business anyway when she graduates from the university. There's no way I'm taking dad's position."
The smaller girl raises an eyebrow at her. "You're really planning on starting another company of your own after graduation, huh?"
"Yep! That's right." Tzuyu flashes a confident smile. "An entertainment company. My goal is for it to be big and good enough so that I can eventually get Sana as my own artist. She told me once that she wanted to be in theatrical plays and television shows after she gets her degree in performing arts."
"Wow." Chaeyoung sarcastically nods and does a slow clap. "Already planning way ahead for the future of you two."
The cheer captain simply scoffs at her in response.
"But, hey Ms. Chou Tzuyu. May I please remind you that you're still engaged to another girl named Ms. Son Chaeyoung?"
"Ugh." Tzuyu rolls her eyes and squints at her. "Why do you have to exist and ruin my love life?"
Chaeyoung loudly scoffed. "Hey! I want to say the same thing to you!"
"If I wasn't born, you'll be engaged to Nayeon Unnie right now." The cheer captain smirks at her. "Your love life is guaranteed to be messed up either way."
The soccer ace flashes an obviously fake smile. "Thanks for the assurance."
Tzuyu smiled back at her in mocking. "You're welcome."
"TZU!" Nayeon suddenly yells from the house's second floor.
"Yes, Unnie?"
"Fifteen more minutes! I want to redo my bangs a bit!"
"Okay, Unnie!"
Both Chaeyoung and Tzuyu knowingly looked immediately at each other and shook their heads a bit.
The soccer ace mumbles under her breath. "That means another thirty minutes."
Tzuyu rolled her eyes and replied in almost a whisper. "I don't know why she puts so much effort on this. If I could attend in pajamas, I would've done so."
"I don't understand these business people. Being too formal all the time."
And the two girls paused to give each other a look then burst into chuckles at each other's comments. They went into comfortable silence for a while after that.
Chaeyoung has been texting some updates to Mina while Tzuyu is just playing on her phone.
"Hey, Tzuyu." The soccer ace clears her throat and carefully starts. "What happened last night anyway? Were you able to tell Sana everything?"
The cheer captain abruptly pauses her fingers on her mobile phone's screen. "Y— Yeah. I told her about the fixed marriage and... about the deal I made with my dad... and the dinner we do every Valentine's day and— and just basically everything else."
"And...?" Chaeyoung scoots a bit closer to the other girl on the sofa.
"Haven't you talked with Mina?" Tzuyu looks at her with hopeful eyes, asking a question instead of answering. "Surely her best friend told her something."
"I'm not sure about that. Obviously, Minari and I haven't had the chance to talk about it specifically... yet. I promise you an update the moment I get something."
The cheer captain slumps her shoulders and lets out a deep sigh.
"Hey, Tzuyu." Chaeyoung reaches to softly squeeze the other girl's arm. "You ignored my earlier question. Did it not go well? I— I was actually in their room last night when Sana arrived and... She was definitely not in a good mood. What happened? What did she say? How did Sana take it?"
"She—" Tzuyu looks down and starts to fiddle with her fingers. "Sana told me to come back again to her when I've got something better to say."
"Huh?" The soccer ace scrunches her eyebrows. "What does she mean by that?"
"That's exactly what I want to know. She just dropped that statement on me like it was the most casual and normal thing to say after all the things I've said to her."
"Then... why didn't you ask her about it?"
"I tried!" Tzuyu almost yelled. She is definitely looking frustrated and confused at the same time. "But then she suddenly gave me a pained look and walked out on me."
"Huh? That— that definitely doesn't sound good." The soccer ace shakes her head a little. "I'm so sorry to hear that, Tzuyu."
Tzuyu just let out another deep sigh and remained silent.
"Umm... Tzuyu." Chaeyoung calls out again.
The cheer captain simply made eye contact with her.
"This is just a suggestion but..." The soccer ace paused a bit, trying to find the right words. "Do you want to bring this up to Minari? I mean— you know— Sana is her best friend and... maybe she could help us figure this out? You know, trying to formulate or enlighten us with what that 'something better to say' that the hamster might be referring to."
"Hmm..." Tzuyu nods her head slowly a couple of times. She then faces the smaller girl wearing a livelier expression on her face. "That might not be a bad idea, but..." Her face slowly turns back to her earlier worried face. "Doesn't that also mean I have to tell Mina this whole thing about the deal I made with my dad?"
Chaeyoung flashes an assuring smile to her. "Don't worry. We can trust Minari. Believe me. She's smart and mature and kind and sweet... and adorable... and pretty... and—"
The cheer captain clears her throat, stifling a smile while giving the soccer ace a teasing look.
"And— and I'm not saying this just because I love her!"
"Yeah, right." Tzuyu raises an eyebrow at her, speaking in a sarcastic tone. "I'm sure Mina being pretty and adorable has absolutely, definitely, a hundred percent has something to do with my issue with Sana that I thought we were discussing at the moment."
"Ugh. Sorry. I just can't help it sometimes." The smaller girl faintly chuckles. She then reaches out to hold the cheer captain's hand. "Anyway. Just look at how Minari is so understanding with me. Let's tell her about the deal, hmm? Maybe she could help us big time with convincing Sana."
Tzuyu pauses for a moment, then lets out a sigh. "Okay, okay. You go ask for her availability. We'll talk, the three of us. Let's tell Mina all about it."
