"Sana—" Nayeon massages her temples. She pauses for a second to heave in a deep breath, calming herself. "You know it's not that easy for her. Think also from her shoes. Please. You have to meet her halfway if you want this to work. Can't you do that for her? I thought for one that you can do better. Am I wrong to expect that from you?"
"I—" The cheer captain purses her lips. She looks to the floor and lets out a sigh. "I'm sorry. I— I know it is harder for her right now. I know that. It's just— I know Tzuyu's your sister and I know you're just concerned about us but—"
Sana suddenly started tearing up. She can now no longer hold her emotions inside her. She stayed silent for a moment, trying to stifle her sobs.
When Nayeon notices it, she quickly stands up from the stairs and sits beside the girl on the floor. "Hey. I don't want to take sides here. I'm sorry if it sounded like that."
"It's just—" The cheer captain speaks in between sobs. "This whole messed up thing is also hard for me. I mean— I never wanted someone so much in my life like Tzuyu. I may have had a whole ton of flings in the past but— but those are definitely nowhere near where I want Tzu and I to be."
The soccer manager exhales deeply. She and Jeongyeon exchanged concerned looks and decided to stay quiet, patiently waiting for Sana to calm down.
"Ugh." The cheer captain suddenly leans onto Nayeon's shoulder. "Ugggghhhhh." She starts wiggling her body in whining while her forehead is still leaning on the soccer manager's shoulder. "I really have to sort the right answer to that question soon. I'm afraid I have to decide as soon as possible."
The soccer manager then softly chuckles while tapping Sana's back. "You better should, young lady. And I'm also afraid that you have to eventually agree to what she asked you to do."
Jeongyeon stands up to walk to Sana, ruffling the latter's hair consecutively. "You don't want a pretty girl like Tzuyu to just slip through your fingers, don't you Minatozaki?"
"No way!" The cheer captain abruptly pops her body straight and glares at the council treasurer. "There's no way I'm handing the love of my life to my best friend's lover!"
Nayeon playfully squints at her. "Then, you better start working your ass for her."
"I know, I know." Sana rolls her eyes. "It's just hard sometimes how to figure that girl out."
"Wow." Jeongyeon butts in with a mocking tone. "I think you just took the words right out of Tzuyu's mouth."
"Hey! I'm not that difficult to understand!"
The two girlfriends promptly gave the cheer captain a knowing look.
"Ugh." Sana rolled her eyes and leaned on Nayeon's shoulder again, not wanting to roll on another energy draining argument again. "Okay, okay. I know that I'm also not communicating myself well to Tzu."
The soccer manager faintly chuckles. "Do you know what's funny, Sana?"
"Whaaat?" The cheer captain answers without energy. "What is it now?"
"I'm sure that you and Tzu might even be the couple preparing for marriage right now if you two could only be honest and speak your hearts out to each other."
"Huh?" Sana pops her body straight again to give Nayeon a raised eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
"It means..." The council treasurer comments. "That you two are absolutely expecting each other to figure each other out without actually telling each other what you exactly want."
"Hey, hey, hey. Hold your horses there, you smarty pants ostrich." The cheer captain points to Jeongyeon. "You just sucked at that last explanation. You had a very poor choice of reiterating words in that sentence."
"Hey!" The council treasurer also points a finger back. "I was just trying to—"
"Stop it you two!" Nayeon yells while flailing her arms in the air, pacifying again the two hot headed council girls. "What I meant was..." She looks to Sana's direction with visible concern. "You and Tzuyu might not see it since you're both immersed in your own point of view but as far as I am concerned, you two are acting just exactly the same."
"Huh?" Sana asked again. "How come?"
The soccer manager lets out a sigh. "If only you would tell Tzu what you want to hear from her, my sister might have won that deal already with my dad. And if only Tzu won't be so secretive with her little efforts of why she wants to protect you with all her life, you both might have found a way out of this already together."
"Wait." Jeongyeon utters. "That one's not rocket science. What Tzuyu was doing there was clearly just an act of pure love."
Sana faintly scoffs. "Tzu never told me that."
"Are you an idiot, Minatozaki?" The council treasurer continued to speak. "Who would do that kind of thing except for love? Do you even know that she has asked me to stalk you since when we were freshmen here in the university?"
"What— Huh? What are you—"
"See?" Jeongyeon flashes a proud smile. "Stop trying to make Tzu a fortune teller when you also don't know that much about her, you slow hamster cheer girl."
"Shush you two!" Nayeon yells at the council girls again for the nth time now. "Seriously. Why can't you both stay quiet for a couple of minutes without bickering at each other?"
"So— Sorry, babe."
The soccer manager shakes her head in annoyance. "As I was saying, Sana. You and Tzuyu need to be honest with each other. You both have to communicate. You're making things too complicated when you two could've just simply told each other what you want."
Sana lets out a huge sigh. "I'll try. I'll talk to her. We'll talk this out."
Jeongyeon adds in for the cheer captain. "Anyway, I'm leaving that puppy all to your care overnight. I'm picking her up early tomorrow morning. Dad and Tzuyu actually had a little skirmish at dinner tonight. I'm sure that that not so little girl has a lot going on in her mind."
"Oh my—" The cheer captain faintly gasps.
The council treasurer continues with a sincere smile. "You know... Tzuyu doesn't let her emotions show but when it comes to you..." She gives her a knowing look. "I'm amazed how that baby girl just opens up. I hate to admit it but neither me nor her sister could do that. If there's someone who she would need the most right now, that's you."
The cheer captain nods softly. "Yeah. I really have to be there for her."
"But!" Jeongyeon then points a finger to her. "Don't you dare play flirty with her! My Tzuyu is still a baby. Got that?"
"Ugh! Here we go again." Sana just rolls her eyes and shakes her head, eventually joining the soft chuckle of the two other girls with her in the hallways.
