"Umm... Sana is— Sana is my..."
Everyone else stayed in absolute silence, including Sana. They were all attentively looking in anticipation at the young cheer captain and waiting for an answer.
"Umm... Sana is my childhood friend."
The students then slowly nodded in acknowledgement, some made eye contact with Sana, politely smiling and slightly bowing.
However, Jihyo shortly massages her temples. She looks down, shaking her head a bit while mumbling under breath. "Wrong answer, Chou Tzuyu."
Sana, on the other hand, heaves in a really deep breath, then does something that surely not one soul in the whole university expected her to do. She swiftly reached out to Tzuyu's hand, consecutively intertwining it with hers.
Then, the vice president looks at everyone else in the crowd confidently. "I'm so sorry. I know we all just met as of this moment but I would like to apologize to all of you."
"Huh?" One of the students immediately reacts. "Why?"
Tzuyu also looks at her in wonder. "Ye— Yeah. Why are you apologizing to them?"
"Awww." Sana suddenly acts cutesy and pinches one of the younger girl's cheeks with her free hand. "I think my Tzu forgot about it. My Tzu is also clumsy sometimes, huh?"
The students from the crowd started looking at each other with scrunched eyebrows while mouthing 'My Tzu', apparently the two words that maybe stung their ears.
Jihyo then covers her mouth, stifling a chuckle from the scene she is witnessing. She certainly has a good grip of an idea of what is going on with Sana's sudden change of behavior.
Sana then continued to speak, this time back to the group of students. "What is the time of the party that you were talking about earlier? The one that you were asking my Tzu to come with you."
"The— The party..." One of the guys answers. "It starts at around seven in the evening."
Tzuyu, being the innocent girl she is, unfortunately is just slowly blinking her eyes. She is looking lost in what is currently happening around her and what Sana is aiming to do.
"Ugh. Seven in the evening? I'm really, really terribly sorry." The vice president utters in what seems like a fake apology. "What a coincidence! Oh, my. I can't believe that my childhood friend and I will be having a date at that same... exact time."
"Umm... But—" Another person from the group butts in. "But Tzuyu never told us about it."
That statement made Jihyo now turn her back from the group of students, not being able to hold her faint chuckles anymore.
"Ahh. Really? She did not?" Sana turns to the younger girl and flashes a really wide smile that may look rather scary for someone like Tzuyu right now. "Did you forget about it, Tzu?"
Tzuyu is sweating her palms now and is simply staring at Sana for just a minute. She is still not sure of what is happening around her. In her mind, the cells in her brain are working so hard right now in an emergency task to try and remember if she and the older girl did set something about a date today. And her good memory is not finding any trace of that in their conversations, may it be on social media, phone calls, or personal talks. She just can't remember that they ever talked about a date today at precisely seven in the evening.
"Anyway." Not getting a response right away, Sana turns to speak again to the group of students, glancing momentarily at each of the students sitting on the lounge couches. "That is what I want to apologize for. She can't be with you all for that event because I am taking her all to myself tonight."
The students in the group promptly exchanged awkward smiles and glances. "We... never heard that Tzuyu already has someone she—"
"AH! But don't be mistaken! Please." Sana quickly cuts one of the student's sentences. "Tzuyu is absolutely single and always has the privilege to go to parties and meet other people. She is definitely free to do all of those. I don't care at all." She then pauses and turns to give Tzuyu a blank look. "I'm just her childhood friend after all."
"Of— Of course!" Everyone in the crowd weirdly laughs while continuing to exchange looks at each other and commenting. "We— we're not getting any weird thoughts. Don't worry."
"Sa— Sana." Tzuyu, who finally just learned how to speak again after an unreasonable amount of silence, clears her throat and begins speaking. "Umm... As— as what I was saying..."
Sana quickly faces her in a wide smirk. "Yes, baby? What do you want with Sana Unnie?"
And then Tzuyu didn't know how to speak again. She just pursed her lips and then looked to the floor while her whole being was starting to blush.
The older girl, fully aware of her effects on the cheer captain, tilts her head and leans awfully close to Tzuyu's face. "What was it, Tzu?"
Tzuyu just furiously shakes her head that is bowed down. Her eyes are now even closed, not wanting to make eye contact with what seems like a hamster predator lurking to pounce on her at any given moment.
Sana then slowly leans into her ear and whispers something slowly for only the two of them to hear. "Walk me out of this group right the hell now, Chou Tzuyu. I want to talk to you alone."
The younger girl gulps in obvious nervousness. She is now internally wishing for someone to save her. But not from the group of her friends who will surely roast her tomorrow after witnessing this scene.
But instead, Tzuyu feels like she needs to be saved with what is about to come from a certain childhood friend of hers. A childhood friend who she is sure now that she shouldn't have addressed just as a plain and a simple childhood friend.
