Anthony (Ghost)

"Where the pretty girl at?" My moms ask me. "You haven't brought her by since the reunion."

Since we've been back, I was staying at my moms for a bit before I leave. I was meeting Kev and them today at one of my spots. "Home. She got classes and probably gone start working again soon."

"Awww. Well I'm happy for her." She says sittin across from me. "Are you going? For college basketball? You know you should."

I sucked my teeth not wanting to have this conversation again. It's either Nae or her bringing it up. They ass don't know when to drop it.

"I know she's going. Her future is bright, I can tell." She smiled, sipping from her glass.

"Yeah I know." I say.

"They've been sending letters here for months." She shakes her head. "They want to give you the full ride because of how good you was. Why are you passing it up, son? For these streets?"

"Ma, I ain't come here for allat." I sat back.

"Well now it's gone be about all that." She said as a matter of fact, making me sigh.

She wonder why I don't come around as much. I honestly don't wanna keep hearing the same shit. She my mama and I love her to death, but damn.

"What type of example you setting for Antwan as his older brother?" She says, frowning now. "Seems like he following what you doing now. He barely comes home and when he do, it's late and he smells like weed or alcohol." She sighed, shaking her head.

I frowned from hearing that. Antwan and I had a conversation about the shit he be doing. I told him if he don't fix it, he's gonna have to see me. He know mama already stressing about me, even though I keep telling her I'm good, so he shouldn't be doing the shit.

"School done called me about ten times about him either skipping classes or being in fights and getting suspended." She sighed.

I sighed, taking all of what she said in. I'm definitely gone have to have a conversation with him again. "I'll handle it." I simply say.

"I doubt the boy will listen but gone head." she says. "I'm worried about both of you. You in these streets doing god know what and him following in you and whoever else footsteps."

"Nun to worry about, imma always be good ma. And he not followin anything, I'll talk to em'." I say.

She shook her head, going back to drinking her tea. I do everything to show her that I'm good and that she ain't got to worry about me. But Antwan on the other hand, is a different story. He has no reason to be doing shit reckless. I make sure both of them is straight on any and everything, so I'm not understanding why he fucking up. All the nigga gotta do is go to school.

"I'm still going to worry, I'm your mother. People out there is crazy and you out there being apart of it. You bet not drag Ranae into that mess." She warns me.

"Im good and she good ma." I say, sighing.

"Mhmm." She says. She grabbed some envelopes off the table in front of her and held them out to me

I knew what they were about already so I take them. Quick glancing at them, It was letters from colleges and scouters saying the same thing. Placing the letters inside my coat pocket, I hear the door open and close.

Antwan walks in with a hoodie on his head, dropping his backpack by the door then heading to the kitchen.

"Where you been at Antwan? School called me and told me you skipped two classes." He didn't respond, ignoring her as he searched the fridge. "Boy you hear me." she says getting up. I instantly grew pissed at him for making her get up when I know he hear her.
