When I had woken up the next morning Curtis wasn't in bed with me, and I instantly got sad knowing he had just left me. I walked out of the bedroom to get Colt ready for the day when I heard Curtis and Colt talking in his room.

"I don't understand..." Colt said.

"I know you don't buddy, and I don't know why I can't come home more but soon your mom and your siblings will be joining me in a new room." Curtis said as I leaned against the wall outside his room.

"Mom cries..." Colt ratted me out.

"When does she cry?" Curtis asked concerned.

"All the time when she thinks I don't notice. She cries at night, while cooking or while just sitting and reading." Colt said. I heard Curtis sigh.

"Listen, I will talk to mom okay. I don't like she is sad, but can you do me a favor?" Curtis asked.

"Yeah." He said sounding excited.

"Can you not take me being gone out on mom? You see she is sad and you being mad at her makes her sad too." Curtis said.

"Oh...I don't want her sad." Colt said.

"I know buddy, you're upset so I get it." Curtis said. I sighed and then walked away from where I was standing. I wanted to have a family breakfast before Curtis had to leave so I started cooking. Soon I was feeling hands on my hips and lips on my neck, I moaned.

"Hey you. I was going to bring you breakfast in bed." Curtis said and I sighed.

"I didn't know when you would be leaving so I wanted to cook for you." I said and pushed back on him to feel him hard. I moaned as Curtis growled in my ear.

"Have you been cleared?" Curtis asked and I nodded. Curtis grabbed my hand pulling me to the bedroom.

"What about Colt?" I asked and he smiled.

"He is laying down a little bit longer." Curtis said and I smiled as we reached the bedroom and we quickly undressed. Curtis picked me up and I squealed as he did. He then laid me down in the bed with him on top.

"I love you." Curtis said and I smiled at him.

"I love you too." I said. He minded himself up and slowly thrust in me and I moaned. We tried to make it last, but we missed each other too much so Curtis wasted no time with his thrusting hard and fast. Once we both finished Curtis wrapped me in his arms.

"So, you cry?" Curtis asked and I groaned.

"Colt needs to keep secrets." I said. Curtis placed a hand under my chin where my head was on his chest and made me look at him.

"You know this isn't forever, right? I will come and get you guys once I take over the train." Curtis said and I nodded.

"I know that I just miss you. I mean I have only been up here with you about a year, and you are already gone, and we are talking about taking over the train." I said and he sighed.

"I know but I promise you, it will be fine, and we will be amazing. I love you; nothing will change that." Curtis said and I smiled as he leaned down and passionately kissed me.

"I love you. I want to thank you Curtis." I said and he looked at me oddly.

"For what?" Curtis said.

"For saving me and Colt. For taking care of Colt and I. Most importantly for showing me I could love again." I said and he smiled at me and held me closer to him.

"Thank you for showing me love had no bounds." Curtis said.

"Who would have thought within a year of me being here we would be where we are." I said and Curtis chuckled.

"Not me. I thought you were going to fight me a lot more than you did on certain things." Curtis said and I shrugged.

"I mean I can fight you if you want..." I said and gave him a wicked smile. Curtis laughed and quickly flipped us, so he was over me. He pinned my arms above my head as I giggled.

"No more crying, okay? I don't like hearing you are sad. It makes me worry." Curtis said and I nodded. He leaned down and passionately kissed me.

❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️

Curtis had left again, and we didn't know when he would be back or when we would be joining him. I was sitting in the living room; the twins lay on a blanket on the floor and Colt was coloring. This was my life now...single mother.

I had heard rumors that Wilford once had a family when the train started. He put them on the train but then he never saw them again. He got consumed by running the train and the engine that he didn't care about his family.

"Hey mom?" Colt asked.

"Yeah?" I asked.

"When dad takes over for Mr. Wilford will his name change to Wilford?" Colt asked and I gave a small laugh.

"No buddy, he will still be Curtis and dad to you." I said.

"Are you and dad going to have more babies?" He asked looked at the twins.

"We haven't discussed that. I don't know bud. Why you want more siblings?" I asked and he shook his head.

"I love Lux and Lotus but no more babies!" Colt said and I chuckled.

"Well, when dad and I discuss it we will discuss it with you." I said and he nodded.

I just sighed when Colt went back to coloring. Colt had been through so much this year that I didn't know how much more he could take. I wanted him to enjoy the world, the way it was, the way I remember it.

"Hey what if I got Tanya to come watch Lux and Lotus so you and I can go to dinner together and then go to the window car?" I asked and he nodded vigorously.

Once I got everything set up Colt and I headed to the window car first before we ate, and I picked him up so he could see.

"Mom?" He asked.

"Yeah?" I asked.

"Will I ever get to be outside?" Colt asked and the way his voice sounded broke my heart. I cuddled closer to him.

"I hope so, someday." I said.

In all reality I thought I would happen a lot sooner than anyone expected. In the almost year I had been in the front of the train I had seen a lot of changes through the windows to the outside world. Things were changing even almost seemed to maybe be warming up...there was a chance.

"I'm getting hungry." Colt said and I smiled as I put him down.

"Let's go eat." I said. I went to leave the window car and took one look outside again and swore I saw something on top one of the mountain peaks.

"No fucking way..." I said in disbelief. I made sure it was seeing correctly but I couldn't tell.

"Mom?" Colt said pulling my attention back to him. I looked at him and smiled. I then looked back out the window and what I thought I saw was gone. I took Colt's hand.

"Let's go eat buddy." I said and we left the window car.
