"we have to walk in eventually, chris." adam reminded the girl as the two stood outside the district five locker room door. they had already been standing there for ten minutes because chrissy wouldn't move.

the brunette sighed closing her eyes, "i know..i'm just mentally preparing myself."

"for what?" he questioned.

"to lose every game and not try to murder someone." the girl crossed her arms still staring at the door trying to accept the future. "..okay. i'm ready." chrissy mumbled grabbing the boy's hand.

adam pushed the door open holding it for the girl. chrissy waited for him to catch up as the two walked in side by side. the locker room went quiet as the ex-hawks entered. the whole team instantly stood up attempting to prove their dominance.

finally breaking the awkwardness, coach bombay popped in to talk to the team and noticed them. "hey. wasn't sure if you two would show up."

"yeah, whatever." adam mumbled. "we just want to play hockey." chrissy told him.

"good. ducks, you all know adam banks and chrissy rodgers." coach bombay introduced them. the two were met with nothing but dirty looks except for one boy who couldn't take his eyes off of chrissy.

"on behalf of the ducks, i'd like to say welcome." charlie conway spoke up walking up to the girl and attempting to shake her hand before jesse stopped him pressing a hand on his chest.

"cake-eaters." he insulted causing chrissy to furrow her brows in confusion to what that even means.

"ooh, the jess-man, dissin' the new guys! the jess-ster!" averman joked from the side.

"shut up, averman!" jesse shouted. "it's just a joke!" averman defended in a whiny tone.

jesse stepped closer to the two getting in their faces, "puttin' on a ducks jersey doesn't mean you're a real duck!"

the room stayed silent as all the ducks filed out of the room shoving into adam as they walked out. charlie conway, being the last in line rested a hand on chrissy's shoulder before exiting.

"they're a good group once you get to know them." bombay tried reasoning with the ex-hawks.

"yeah, they really seem like it." chrissy sarcastically responded while adam just whispered, "i bet."

"well, suit up. i'll see you guys on the ice." coach bombay pointed out the gear with the names banks and rodgers on it next to him before walking out to the ice.

once the door shut adam finally let it out, "i told you this was a bad idea."

"just suit up.." chrissy urged him. she would never admit that banks was right. as a matter of fact she would never admit anyone was right. but it was still too early to tell about this one.

the game was going awful. the ducks were going out of their way to keep the puck away from adam and chrissy even though they were wide open.

"over here! i'm open!" adam called out to some ducks who were passing the puck back and forth.

"come on, right here! up front!" adam persisted.

"just pass it, morons!" chrissy shouted at jesse and guy who were passing the puck back and forth. jesse finally decided to change pace passing it to charlie even though chrissy had no one on her.

"up front!" adam shouted again just before the boy finally passed the puck to the rodgers girl who was able to allow adam to score.

"yeah! all right!" adam cheered as chrissy jumped into his arms. "way to go banks!" another duck cheered. it was almost like the ducks were coming around.

by the third period, the score was tied 1-1 with only sixteen seconds remaining.

"goldberg, you're gonna sit this one out." coach bombay instructed as the team was gathered in the sideline during their timeout.

"what? you're pulling the goalie when we're tied?!" karp questioned in shock as all the kids started chattering in confusion.

coach bombay quickly cut everyone off to explain himself stopping the commotion, "listen, listen, listen! a tie isn't gonna help us."

"it's about the win!" chrissy spoke up getting a nod from coach. winning was what being a hawk was all about, it was something she knew all too well.

"okay, fulton. you're our extra man. everybody get the puck to fulton. that's your job." coach bombay instructed.

"we pulling the statue of liberty play?" fulton asked getting a nod from connie in agreement.

"no, take your shot." coach smiled. "you may only get one, so it's gotta be good."

"but, coach, one outta one?" fulton seemed hesitant and unconfident about his shooting abilities. chrissy wanted more than anything to volunteer to take the shot but the ducks didn't trust her yet.

"soft hands, fulton." guy added. "okay? let's get the huskies!" coach bombay cheered as the ducks hopped back on the ice.

"let's back it up,. boys. let's make it a fair one. let's go." the referee announced dropping the puck on the ice. banks was quick to steal the puck in the face-off and pass it to fulton.

just as the boy was about to take his shot, the puck got stolen by a husky diving on the ground. chrissy immediately started rushing towards the puck to steal it back knocking the boy on the ground.

once she had the puck back, she passed it to fulton as fast as possible who took the winning shot. she'd never seen anything like it, the puck flew straight through the goal breaking the netting completely.

the crowd roared as the ducks won the game 2-1. they had actually made the playoffs. chrissy was ecstatic, she didn't think the ducks had it in them.

in celebration, the brunette grabbed the first person she saw and pulled them into a tight hug. "woah, didn't know you loved me that much rodgers!" a pestering voice shot into the girl's ear causing her to quickly pull away. it was charlie, of course.

chrissy awkwardly smiled after realizing what she'd done, "this changes nothing." she told him with a now death glare before skating off to find adam.
