Chapter 68

"That was a bad idea, Baba. Why did you do it?"
Kabir says with a worried look. They are in the office room. Sidharth's chair is turned towards the window with his back towards him.
"Kabir chacha, is there any other way to fight him? I don't mind losing everything but not my closed ones. I know he will target everyone who matters to me. In this way, I can focus on protecting them while worrying about other things."
"And by doing what you plan, you will add another worry to your list. You can't trust him. This is a bad idea. We have to find some other way. I will find some other way. I promise, Baba. I promise I won't let anything happen to anyone."

Sidharth turns his chair to face him but doesn't say anything. There's a knock on the door and Peter enters the room.
"Boss, Tahir sahib and Amir bhai are here."
"Bring them inside."
An elderly man in a green pathani suit enters with a tall and heavy man. They nod as a sign of greeting and take the empty chairs beside Kabir.

Tahir, the older one says, "Aaj meeting mein, Taude kuch karne wala hai. He had a meeting with Ajmal, Bihari and Shivaji. Shivaji bola, he wants to overthrow you. How he didn't say that."
Sidharth smirks, "That's the only motive he has in his life. And I have an idea of what he is probably gonna do."
Tahir nods his head, "I know whose help he will take, David's. Khabar yeh bhi hai ki David kuch gore gunde laya hai. He wants to destroy the syndicate by taking it in his control. He must have given a deal to him."

Sidharth with a still face answers, "I can't let anyone from outside take Mumbai in his control. I will not let that happen."
The other man says, "Sidharth Raichand, you have our support. Majority is with you. There's nothing to worry about. Taude ke saath bhi kuch nahi hoga, even with David's help."
Sidharth looks at him, "David is unpredictable. That makes him dangerous. Taude might not do something this time but David won't stop. I called you both here as I have something important to discuss with you. "

After the meeting, the four take the elevator to go downstairs. They get out of it and walk towards the cars.
Tahir turns to him and says, "Jo bhi hoga, Sambhal lenge. Aap fikar na kare. You are like a son to me. I will ensure that you don't have to worry about things. See you at the meeting today."
They both turn to leave. Aamir takes a step ahead, takes a hit and falls down with a groan. Tahir moves away and a bullet hits his shoulder. Sidharth at the very instant pulls Tahir down and the bullet aimed at Tahir's head, hits the car behind.
Sidharth screams, "Give cover. Search for the shooter. Fast."

A doctor comes out and informs Sidharth that Tahir is alright. The bullet has been taken out and he is resting. However Amir was declared dead on arrival.
Peter comes to him with a worried expression.
"Boss, there have been a few other attacks on the Syndicate members. Batliwala's son got hurt, he is safe, John 's car was on attack and he is safe as well but Shivaji Rao died from bullet injuries."
Kabir says, "Baba, yeh sab hamare log hain. Taude, Ajmal inn logon par koi attack nahi hua. Tahir bhai was correct."
Sidharth doesn't say anything.
"Meeting ko abhi sirf ek ghanta bacha hai. Two members are dead. Kya karna hai?"
Sidharth takes a moment and says, "Give me your phone."

The environment of the warehouse was different that evening. Sidharth could understand the reason behind it. A few members who had been attacked were worried while the others were in anticipation.

Sidharth takes his chair and immediately Taude says, "We need to address the most important topic of this hour. Our safety. Sidharth Raichand, it was your duty and you failed. Many of us are attacked and a few dead and the reason behind it is your enmity with David. Why should the Syndicate members suffer for your problems?"
Sidharth turns towards a fat man with a Parsi hat, "Naseer Batliwala, how is your son?"
"He.. is out of danger."
"Sidharth Raichand, instead of asking how they are, you must explain things to us. Are you still going to stay quiet?"
