Chapter 20

Aries Pov

As soon as we got back to the pack house, I mind linked the pack doctor to meet us at the clinic. He was already there waiting on us, and as I laid Twyla on the table my shirt was soaked with her blood. She was still unconscious and hadn't made any move to wake. " Alpha she is in a bad way, "Doctor Robbins stated." You gentlemen need to wait outside in the hall, while we get to work trying to save her. "He ushered Jeremy and I out into the hallway while he went to work. I was holding my wolf back because I didn't like another man touching my mate. I know my eyes were black, because Jeremy was giving me space to not set me off.

Seth came into the hallway followed by Chloe, and two of my trackers Joel and Allison. I looked to them keeping my anger at bay." Where is Samuel?" I questioned my voice a growl. Seth ran his hand threw his hair. " Alpha, I don't know how but he got away. His scent just disappeared at the end of the territory. We tried to pick it back up, but we couldn't." He stated. I growled loudly before punching threw the wall opposite of the clinic room. Seth and everyone else kept their heads down showing their necks in submission. I faced them shaking badly. " I need two wolves every hour running laps on the borders at all times. Samuel must not be allowed to reach Twyla again." I ordered in my alpha tone.

Everyone nodded their heads turning around to leave all except for Jeremy who was standing behind me. I faced him and gave him a scrutinizing look. "Talk!" I ordered. Jeremy stood stock still with a look of surprise on his face, before he shook himself and started to talk. " Every time there is turmoil facing the werewolf race the moon goddess has twins a daughter and a son every one thousand years. The daughter is born first and therefore becomes the Alpha queen and the son becomes the queen's protector. The queen is placed in a pure Alpha family to grow among the werewolf race learning leadership and the son is placed with a separate werewolf family. At the age of eighteen the protector must find the queen so she can obtain her full powers. Once she does, she will come into control of the whole werewolf race. She will band the packs together from the coming turmoil and bring herself and the other wolves out safely while being protected by her mate and the lead of her guard her protector her brother, me." He finished.

I was giving him a look of stupidity." OK ...nice bedtime story, but what does this have to do with Twyla." I questioned. Jeremy rolled his eyes which made me snarl at him. Jeremy threw his hands up. " Twyla is the Alpha queen. " He stated. I looked at him in utter shock. This dude was seriously wacky, and I was raising my fist to hit him, when the doc appeared thru the doorway. " Alpha, I need to speak with you." Doc Robbins stated. I followed the Doctor into the clinical room and shut the door. " How is she Doc?" I asked with worry. The Doctor just shook his head with a serious look on his face. Twyla was still laying on the table in her wolf form wrapped in bandages. " Alpha, she has many deep gashes, and she is healing slowly
. I had to stitch the wounds to stop the blood. Her leg is broken as well and had to be placed in a cast, but what has me mostly worried is she hasn't woken up yet and hasn't shifted back." He declared. " If she doesn't wake up and shift back, she could die. " I walked over to the side of Twyla's bed and sat in a chair. The doctor left the room to give me some privacy. I brought my head down to Twyla's ear. " Baby I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to yell at you and hurt you. But Twyla you have to wake up and shift so you can get better. I love you Princess you are the air that gives me life. I can't make it without you." I sobbed.

Twyla's POV

I hurt all over and couldn't move my body. I tried to open my eyes, but they were so heavy feeling it took several minutes before I could keep them open. I was still in wolf form and felt something heavy laying on my paw. I looked over and saw it was Aries asleep. I wanted to lick his beautiful face so bad, but my feelings were still hurt by him so instead I whined. Aries raised his head having a groggy look on his face, but his face brightened when he saw I was awake. " Twyla baby your awake." He smiled caressing my nose. "I'm so sorry baby I didn't mean to hurt you and order you. I just lost it when I thought you were in danger. Baby I love you so much and it kills me when I think I may lose you." He declared. I still felt a little hurt, but I could understand why he was scared. I licked my mates gorgeous face to let him know I accepted his apology.

The doc walked in and nodded to Aries. Aries turned to give me a serious look. " Twyla the Doc says you need to shift, or your quick healing won't kick in since your wolf form is so weak. Can you do that for me baby please." He begged. I whined unsure of what to do." Its ok baby I'm here. " He exclaimed. I nodded my head before closing my eyes and focusing on my wolf. My bones snapped as I shifted back to human form, and I let out a bloodcurdling scream. I had to lay there for a few minutes with my eyes closed trying not to sob in front of my mate. When I finally was able to open my eyes, I forced a smile, but I was so tired. Aries caressed my face while placing a kiss on my forehead. " Sleep Princess. '' he stated. I nodded my head before letting my eyes drift back off into nothingness.
