Chapter 36

Aries' Pov

With the attacks we have been having I knew Samuel and his rogues weren't camped to far outside of our territory. I decided to be proactive and called in two of my best scouts who were also fighters to try and find the rogue's camp. Bryant was the first, and Paul was the second. They sat across from me on the couch waiting for my orders. "Thank you, guys, for meeting with me. Samuel and his rogues must be camped not too far from our pack borders. The best way I know how to prevent another attack is to be proactive and this is where you two come in. I need you both to find their base camp and report back to me with numbers of rogue's, daily operations, and where exactly the camp is. This will be a stealth mission." I stated. Bryant and Paul nodded their heads. "We understand Alpha and we will be happy to try and prevent another attack on our pack. "Bryant declared. I stood up as did Bryant and Paul." Very well you will leave today and tell no one that you are going. Report back in 3 days' time. Understood? "I ordered. "Yes Alpha," They replied, before leaving my office. I took a seat running a frustrated hand thru my hair.

We were getting down to the wire for this battle and worrying about my mate and our pup has put me on edge. I know Twyla has her powers, and I was so happy that she did. But I also knew that she was going to be Samuel's main target, and he was going to be throwing everything he could at us. Seth walks into my office still bandaged up but healing nicely his claw wounds know pink. I stood up happy to see my best friend in one piece and slapped him on his back. "Dang man. I am happy to see you up and walking around. "I declared. Seth smiled. "Yeah, the last day or two has been rough. But if it wasn't for the Luna getting that antidote everyone who was attacked including myself would be dead. "He stated. "My mate is pretty exceptional. "I replied. We both sat on the couch lounging enjoying some down time for a change, until Chloe storms in pulling Twyla into my office.

Twyla's Pov

Chloe and I had been standing in the room that was right next to mine and Aries' quarters." This will make the perfect nursery." Chloe exclaimed. The room was very spacious, and the walls were white. It would be like decorating a blank slate. " I think I want to paint the walls and decorate." I declared." Chloe rolled her eyes." Well yeah, my goddaughter is not going to have a bland room. I am thinking everything pink." She replied. Aries and I had agreed to ask Seth and Chloe to be our daughter's godparents, and of course they agreed wholeheartedly. I laughed. "No way, I hate pink. "I said. Chloe crossed her arms. "Fine we will go with the colors you want. But we got to get busy. You only like about a month before you pop." She stated. I knew Chloe was right, we had been so focused on this stupid war that I hadn't even had the chance to buy myself some maternity clothes or stuff for the baby. I had just been wearing Aries bigger t shirts and my leggings. "Yeah, I wish we could go shopping." I declared. "We are today." Chloe stated, grabbing my arm.

Chloe marched me down the stairs into Aries office where he and Seth were sitting on the couch talking, and they looked up at us puzzled. "Your mate and I need to go baby shopping Aries. She has nothing. "Chloe demanded. Aries face turned stern. "No, absolutely not." he stated, standing. Seth shook his head. With the attacks that had been happening I knew Aries was only worried about our safety. I walked past Chloe and wrapped my arms around Aries torso looking into his eyes. "Aries I know you are worried about mine our pups and Chloe's safety, but can't you and Seth go with us shopping. The baby and I really need a few things and I know we would be safe with you guys." I suggested. Aries sighed before he started smiling. "Fine but you two will stay with us at all times." He agreed. "Great you two can be gentlemen and help us carry all the bags we will have. "Chloe declared, leading the way to the front door. A look of horror came across Aries and Seth's face, while I was excited. We loaded into the truck and headed into town.

Aries' Pov

Twyla and Chloe walked us into every store with baby sections in town. We were weighed down with so many bags Seth and I were waddling as we walked trying to carry them. Finally, it was lunchtime, and we talked our mates into grabbing some food. We stopped at the small diner here in town and slid into a booth. I flopped into the seat exhausted from all the walking we had done. "I am beat. "I stated. Twyla and Chloe both shared a mischievous look. "Well, we aren't nowhere near done. "Chloe declared. "Yeah, you both better get your second winds. We still have so much to buy. "Twyla added. Seth sank farther into his seat his face in his arms on the table. "How much does this pup need? "He asked. Chloe elbowed Seth hard. "She needs as much of the best as we can get her." She declared. "Have you two decided on a name yet?" Chloe asked. Twyla sighed and I took her hand in mine. "I have a few ideas, but nothing set in stone. I know I want her middle name to be Layla after my mom. "She suggested. I nodded in agreement. "That is beautiful Princess. "I replied. "It sure is Twyla. You still have time to think up her first name to." Chloe added. We all ate the food we ordered from the waitress, before heading back out to finish the shopping trip.

By the end of the day, we had bought out half of the town's baby items. We helped our mates take the bags up to the nursery when we arrived back at the pack house. Before we could turn to leave the girls had put us to work, helping paint the nursey walls. Twyla had chosen the color light blue for the walls and white for the trim. Even as tired as we were we worked on painting until late in the night. With everything that has been looming over our heads I wanted my mate to feel relaxed and prepared for when our pup comes into the world. I will do whatever she needs to make that happen.

Bryant's Pov

Paul and I have been scouting through the mountains bordering our territory in our wolf forms for the past two days and haven't found a trace of any rogues or Samuel. We were scenting out a cave that had a few weird scents, and decided to follow it farther in. Man, if this trail were following turns up nothing, I say we start heading back home, Paul mind linked me. Yeah, let's follow this trail thru and then we will decide what to do. I responded. The smells kept taking us deeper into the cave and it was pitch black for what seemed like hours. Finally, we saw a light opening at the end and we followed it. The opening brought us out onto a cliff overhead overlooking a vast valley below. In the valley there was a cabin and tents pitched all along the tree line, and there were wolves and people moving throughout the camp. The one man I recognized was standing on the porch of the cabin shot glass in his hand, and an evil smirk on his face. Paul is that Samuel? I questioned. Paul nodded his big brown wolf head. Yes, and look at all the rogues he has. There must be hundreds of them if not a thousand., He replied. Watching them move about I suddenly realized that they were packing up their tents and supplies. Samuel suddenly moved his hands into the air. "My brothers and sisters get ready! Tomorow, we go to war!!"He announced across the valley. The rogues all applauded and shouted their approval. I turned to Paul. We have to get back to Alpha Aries and warn them, I declared. We turned on our heels and sped back towards the pack as fast as our legs could carry us.
