Aries Pov

I laid next to Twyla, waiting for her to wake up. After she had lost consciousness, I had caught her before she hit her head on the concrete. I then picked her up and carried her to our quarters, since the infirmary was beginning to fill up with the wounded. She wasn't injured except for some bruises around her neck, according to Doctor Robbins she was just exhausted from depleting her energy. We won the war with Samuel and the rogues, but not without loss of life ourselves. My Gamma Dylan lost his mate Ellie, and many of the young fighters from the other packs were killed.

Seth was helping in the cleanup of the bodies of the rogues and was preparing the memorial for the pack wolves. We were having a time of mourning today, a time when an Alpha and Luna felt the sorrows of his or her pack. Twyla slowly started stirring and opening her eyes. " Hello Princess." I smiled. " What happened? " She asked. "Samuel was trying to kill you honey by strangling you. You had an aura of bright white around your body, and somehow you sucked the life out of him. By the time I got there he was on his knees in front of you, and you snapped his neck killing him. You passed out from exhaustion after you destroyed the rest of the rogues." I explained.

Twyla sat up slowly looking into my eyes." Did we lose many lives? " She questioned. I nodded my head. She cradled her face in her hands and started sobbing uncontrollably. I knew how she felt losing any member of our pack was like losing a member of the family, and with her being the Alpha queen she had to be feeling all the other pack's sadness's as well. I pulled her into my lap and let her cry herself out. " Twyla today we will mourn for our family and hold a memorial, but tomorrow we will move on from this and lead our packs to a united werewolf nation. "I said, comforting her. She pulled her face out of her hands and leaned up kissing me gently. She ran her hand down my cheek, stepping out of my lap. " In the morning I want to have a meeting with all the packs. Thank them for all they have done and then have a celebration of life ball following the memorial this afternoon." She stated. I wrapped my arms around her waist hugging her from behind. " Sounds like a good idea to me Princess." I declared.

Twyla's Pov

That afternoon I dressed in a black silk dress, and I stood on the stage outside the pack house. A large screen behind the stage was showing pictures of the wolves who lost their lives with their names and ages. I looked out across the faces of each pack's members, and they held sorrow for the wolves we lost but also hope for a better future, and that is what gave me the courage to speak. " My fellow wolves yesterday we all faced a battle that we weren't sure we would win. But thanks to the moon goddess and all of you brave souls we had victory. Today we will mourn the loved ones we have lost and feel their loss, but tomorrow we will start anew all united. "I stated, the crowd breaking out in applause. I brought my hands out to silence everyone. " We lost many great wolves in the battle, but with the sacrifice they gave we will be able to unite the werewolf nation. We will have had our time of mourning today, but tomorrow we will have a ball to celebrate life. May the moon goddess smile upon you all." The crowd applauded and everyone slowly dispersed from the stage.

Aries and I walked hand in hand through the crowd, and everyone even the Alpha's were bowing their heads in reverence to our presence. All the wolves who died were laying separately on piers of wood throughout the field by the sacred site, waiting to be set aflame. There was a total of around thirty wolves who had lost their lives including Dylan's mate Ellie. I stood next to her pier and bowed my head showing her reverence, while Dylan sobbed his face buried in his hands. Aries took the torch from the fire pit and handed it over to me the flame flickering and dancing. I took the torch and walked over to Dylan placing my hand on his shoulder. He looked up to me tears falling down his face. I slowly let my peaceful energy flow from my body into his. The tears on his face ceased and a look of comfort and relief came to his face. " I am sorry for the loss of Ellie, Dylan. She was a good friend and mate. May the moon goddess bless you. "I stated. He nodded. "Thank you, Luna. "He replied. We both turned to Ellie's Pier, and I placed Dylan's hand on mine. We placed the fiery torch next to the pier and it set aflame, burning crackling and snapping the wood. Aries took my hand, and we continued through each pier speaking to the loved ones of those that died and helping them setting their piers aflame.

Soon all thirty piers were burning, my heart hurting for these families. I knew how hard it was to lose someone, and I was missing my parents even more than usual right know. As the day started to draw to a close and all the piers were burnt Aries helped me up to our quarters. My round belly was making it harder to get around, and my feet were swelling. Aries helped me to undress and then undressed himself as we stepped into the walk-in shower. The water was steaming hot, and I let it roll over me trying to undo the knots from stress. Aries helped me suds up my hair and body, and I turned doing the same to him. We were both so tired from the last two days we washed and dried off then went straight to bed not uttering a word.

The next day

We were in the pack house grand hall, and I stepped out with Aries into the midst of the ballroom floor my hand in his. All the North American pack wolves and their Alpha's were in attendance. I was wearing a maternity aqua blue ballgown for tonight's event, and Aries was wearing a black tuxedo. "My fellow wolves yesterday we mourned our dead and the great sacrifice they made in the battle. Today we start moving forward and looking to a bright future where all pack's will be united. A time for peace where everyone can live and prosper. Today will forever more be marked as a celebration of life for all wolves." I exclaimed. "Know if all Alpha's will take their place in front of me." Alpha Eric and all the North American pack Alpha's took places in front of me kneeling, and all packs members surrounded us in a circle. "My Alphas do you promise to unite your packs under me moving forward into a brighter future filled with peace and prosperity? Do you swear your fealty to me in any day you are needed in the case of conflict arises? Do you swear to uphold the new laws of the werewolf nation moving forward? "I questioned. The Alpha's all looked up to me loyalty and hope drawn across their faces. "We do My Queen." They responded. I smiled. "Then Arise My Alpha's a new day dawns. "I declared. Applause broke out through all packs shouting and whooping ringing through the grand hall. The Alpha's stood and I hugged them separately.

They all broke apart and started dancing with their Luna's to the music. Aries led me to the dance floor. " May I have this dance my lady? " He questioned. I took his hand happiness radiating off of me. " Yes, you may. " I declared. We began to dance to the song Heartbeat by Carrie underwood." I love you my darling with all of my heart." Aries whispered in my ear. " And I you ...my lover my protector and my alpha" I replied, laying my head into the crook of my mate's neck. For the first time since my parents had died, I knew I was finally home.
