Monday February 13, Morning
"All students will report for their volunteer jobs at 10:00 a.m. sharp, followed by a community lunch at 1:00" Here it was... the day of the school year which Raven dreaded the absolute most...she also had her hair in something that wasn't her usual low bun, so that could have also contributed to the tense nerves "As you know, this year's Outreach Day culminates in a very special event, the dedication of a new memorial statue in the town square, which will also include performances by Nevermore students!" Exited giggles filled the courtyard. "As representatives of our school, I trust you will all put your best face forward"
"I got Pilgrim World!" Enid announced jumping excitedly toward the two Addams "I have natural people skills and a love of performing, so it's kind of the obvi choice. What'd you get?" She asked Wednesday "Uriah's Heap" she read off the pamphlet "Whatever that is" Enid scrunched her face in disgust "Ew, It's this weird, creepy antique store. You'll love it though"she turned to looks at Raven "Raven?" Raven looked back at her "I don't go to Outreach day, you know this" Raven stated dryly. "Is it still for what happened six years ago?" Enid asked genuinely "Absolutely yes" Raven replied truthfully "plus I have a permission slip signed by my parents which authorizes me to not go, so" "Uncle Fester signed you a permission slip?" Wednesday asked surprised "Of course not" Raven replied "I forged it"
"Well...I'm crossing my claws Ajax and I will be outreaching together." Enid added as she looked at Ajax with heart eyes. "May I just say you have questionable taste in men?" Raven asked sarcastically. "Shut is Raven!"
Ms. Weems came up to the three girls with a cheery smile. "Hello ladies, Wednesday, Raven, don't worry about your cello and piano, I'll have them brought to the town square this afternoon" the two girls looked at each other confused "My cello?" "My piano?" "I volunteered the two of you to accompany the Jericho High School marching band at the ceremony" Ms. Weems added with an even bigger smile.
"I'm sure there has been a mistake" Raven tried to interject "I am not going to Outreach day" she tried to say "Oh yes you are young lady" Ms. Weems said, directing her focus on Raven.
"I will say, you have fooled me all these years, but I will let you know that I am now certain that no parent has ever signed your permission slip to skip this event, Ms. Addams" The tall woman said with the same smile plastered on her face as she handed Raven her pamphlet with her task.
"So I'm sure it won't be too challenging for the two of you to play an uplifting Fleetwood Mac melody" "As long as you promise to hang me as a witch afterwards" Wednesday said as the dean walked away.
"So what did you get?" Enid asked. Raven opened the blue pamphlet and her heart dropped "...Weathervane..." Raven looked pleading at the two girls "I beg you, one of you switch with me" "Why??? You'll be with Tyler! Isn't that exiting?" Enid asked. "No it's not! He's the reason why I always avoided Outreach day in the first place!" She complained, although always keeping a straight face.
"But you're friends now!" Enid argued "No, that is something he made up in his head. I only have one friend and that is Eugene" "Hey!" Enid complained "fine two friends" she corrected herself. "Oh come one!" Enid tried to lift the mood "It could be worse! It's just normies, what's the worse that can happen" Raven looked at her incredulous "May I quote you on that?" Raven asked sarcastically.
Raven decided to go look for Eugene before boarding the bus to go to the dreadful event. "There you are, I was searching for you everywhere!" Eugene exclaimed once he saw her. She awkwardly waved the pamphlet to his face, he gasped "no way! You're actually coming this year? What happens to your forged permission slip?" He asked "Weems figured it out...what do you have?" She asked him "pilgrim world, you?" "The stupid Caffè on the corner of the street" she said "Luckyyy, you can eat cookies and drink coffee the whole time!" She almost let out a smile "If you come by I'll give you a free doughnut and an iced tea" she said trying to convince him to stop by so she wouldn't feel entirely alone.
"I probably will...I'm not good with people.." he said "I know Eugene...I know"
