I GOT YOUR BACK
Loud bangs filled Paul’s ears as his tiny hands covered them, groaning in pain. A loud giggle filled the whole dark room as the thousand candles got blown out by the wind. A scream from Pamela suddenly caught his ears. “Pa..” lifting his head up as the view of bloody Pamela hung with a chain, her neck twisted abnormally came to his view.
“PAM!” running toward her but the loud clock striking midnight got his whole body twisted abnormally. A scream left his lips.
Rapidly his eyes opened, gasps living his numb lips. That was when he noticed he was back under the blankets with the four children who were fast asleep. A breath of relief escaped his lips. Tiny voices suddenly caught his ears. He was sure they came from Barbara and William.
“Will, say something,” Barbara said.
There was silence from William. A deep breathe left Barbara’s lips, her eyes on William who had his eyes on the misty road ahead. “I should have told you,” she said. “I’m…”
“When I touched them, something happened,” William interrupted her, his grip tightening on the rein, holding the moose together. “I felt angry, deadly and hungry for their blood, I killed all my uncle’s men and got no injuries.”
He turned to face Barbara. “They did it to me? The twins?”
Barbara moved her hand onto William’s hand, who immediately stopped the sleigh. “They made me kill my uncle and men I had known for years.”
“Bad men,” Barbara corrected him. “They were bad men, who hunted children and butchered their parents.”
Tears clouded in William’s eyes. “Look at me,” moved her right hand onto his face. “You saved Hector and Charles from being eaten, you were brave and most importantly you are a good man, a good man who I fell in love with. A man who gave me a family, a home and hope.”
William’s hand held her cold hand passionately, while moving his other hand onto her cold face, her nose a shade of red. He slowly moved his warm thin lips onto Barbara’s thick dry, cold lips, kissing her passionately. “I love you Barbara,” he whispered.
“I love you too Will,” moving her hawk nose onto Will’s long nose.
“I know,” William said between deep breathes, inhaling her cold breath, eyes closed.
Paul felt his heart sink, reviving the memory of Pamela two years ago.
Her face dimed and tears gathered in her eyes. “They were going to take me? They were going to take me away to Barba Yaka,” she cried.
Paul turned to face her as he embraced her. “They were going to take me to Barba Yaka!”
“Shh, no one is taking you anywhere,” he said sounding upset. “No one.”
“I'm scared!” tears running down her cheeks which had turned pink. “I'm scared Paul!”
Paul tightened his grip around her even more. Tears have gathered his eyes, making his vision appear blurry. “Don’t be,” he assured her. “Don’t be Pam.”
The movement of the sleigh pulled him back to the presence. He turned to his left and found Jack awake, facing up. He had tears, tears running across his nose bridge, down his cheek onto the ground.
He seemed to sense Paul’s stare and turned to his left, wiping away his tears. Paul slowly reached his hand onto him, embracing him. Jack’s eyes widened. His body tensed then relaxed. No words shared toward each other.
