FINAL BATTLE
The sleigh drove through the woods heading toward the black river. “Four minutes left!” Jack yelled, taking a look at the baby’s eyes.
“Do you think Miss. Barbara and Paul will make it?” Hector asked.
“They have to, they will,” William said, shoving the map inside his pants pocket. “We are here.”
The sight of the foggy river came to everyone’s view. “Let’s all move,” stepping out, picking the Anna who groaned a little. “There is a boat,” Hector said, pointing at the boat moving toward the edge of the river.
Jack uncovered the children under the blankets. “Let’s move,” picking up unconscious girl who hadn’t moved a muscle.
“Come on children,”
The two children got out of the sleigh as Hector picked the basket.
“Everyone on the boat,” William yelled.
Blood suddenly appeared on William’s chest. Jack’s eyes widened, seeing William get on his knees. The grip on Anna’s loosening, allowing her legs in the water. “Wi…” she struggled to speak.
“Will!” Jack yelled, handing the blonde-haired boy the unconscious girl and ran back.
Men in sleigh suddenly appeared from around amongst them was Galliot, his shot gun pointed at William who was wounded. “Get the children!” Galliot ordered, his men.
Hector, pushing the two new children behind his back, his vicious eyes on the men” I WILL KILL YOU! DON’T COME CLOSE!” he yelled.
Jack knelt before William. “Ja…”
“Will please, no,” he cried.
“Take Anna, get out of here,” he spoke, between gasps.
“No, no, we can…”
“Jack,” lifting his chin.
“Take care of one another,” embracing him, sensing him lose life.
Jack’s intense eyes clouded with tears, saw the men closing on them. “HUH!” he screamed pulling the shot gun on William’s shoulder showering bullets at Galliot’s men, blood splashing in the air, while pulling Anna. Hector handed the basket to the chestnut-haired boy. “Go to the boat!” he ordered, running for the men.
He slid under one of Galliot’s men touching his leg. The men turned to his men firing bullets at them.
“STOP!” Galliot yelled, all his men pointing their shot guns at them. “You are outnumbered, give up.”
