DAY TWO OF NO MOON

CAN'T LET YOU REPEAT MY SINS BROTHER!

Jack's eyes slowly opened, the sight of the fire and Paul who was on his feet, one of the bag packs on Paul's back came to his view. He slowly pushed himself up, sitting upright, startling Paul. "Aren't you going to say goodbye?" Jack asked, turning to face him.

"Yo...You are awake,"

"Yes, I'm awake and you are leaving," Jack pointed out.

"If I want to get her back, I shall set out now," Paul replied. "Your family have done a lot for me and I think it's time I path my own way for I have given them the map, which will safely take you to paradise."

Jack sighed, helping himself up. "If you wish to stop me, you will be wasting your time," turning back, moving away.

"I'm coming with you,"

Paul's eyes widened, stopping. "I am not letting you go alone,"

Paul turned to face him. "No! you cannot come it's too dangerous,"

"So is it for you," pulling his shotgun from ground, hanging it across his shoulder. "I would be a fool letting you set out alone."

"I am not hurt," Paul reasoned.

"I feel better," putting on his boots and took the garden axe which was sticking out from the bag pack he had been carrying, shoving it inside his coat. "I'm older and stronger than you are, making me the best companion you would set out with."

Barbara who was leaning on the trunk of the tree turned still asleep. Paul's body tensed as he watched her. "Now come," limping past him.

Paul glanced at the sleeping family and then followed Jack down the dark woods.

Cold wind bit Paul's face as he fastened his coat. He sides glanced at Jack who was beside him. He had his eyes focused on the road. "You shouldn't have come, I can take care of myself,"

"Sure you can," Jack sarcastically said.

Paul immediately stopped walking.

"Why do you do this?" Paul asked, his voice cold. "Why are you always negative?"

Jack immediately stopped walking, his eyes widened. "You seem to feed on people's pain and misery," Paul said his eyes on Jack who was a step away from him.

"SHUT UP!" Jack snapped turning to rough him up. "You know nothing about me! Nothing!" tossed him on the snow, then proceeded walking.

He landed on his face on the snow. "You are a coward, Jack!" Paul yelled, spitting out the snow that had went inside his mouth.

Jack stopped walking and turned back to face Paul. "You take out your bitterness onto me!" getting up.

"SHUT UP!" Jack snapped, punching Paul on his face as he fell down.

Jack kicked him on his belly but Paul rolled out the way, splashing the snow on Jack's face. "Aah!" Jack cursed running his hand on his face.

Paul knocked his knee with his elbow. "Aah!" Jack cursed getting on one knee pulling Paul by the bag pack but like a weasel his arms were off the bag pack and now on his back. He ran his elbow on Jack's shoulder as the bag pack on Jack's hand dropped on the snow.

Jack then threw a punch onto Paul who quickly moved out of the way, running his elbow on Jack's other shoulder. Shuddered gasps left Jack's lips. His body moving forward holding on the snow before him.

"I am not going to stop looking for her, not even if you try stopping me. I will not stop," moving toward Jack pulling out a dagger from his coat. "I have killed creatures before and I can kill men if they push me,"

He stood before Jack his hand trembling on the dagger. Jack rapidly swung the bag pack on Paul, knocking his hand, causing the dagger to get tossed away as he fell down. Jack rapidly got up, getting on top of him, running his fist on Paul's small face.

"You piece of cabbage! We saved you! Let you be part of the pack but still you are ungrateful!"

Paul tried blocking him with his hands but Jack easily moved his hands off his face and dug his bloody fist on his face. "Saving her won't make up that you let her get taken! You will always feel guilty around her! Let her go! You cannot save her!"

A memory returned in Paul's head.

Paul turned to face her as he embraced her. "They were going to take me to Barba Yaka!"

"Shh, no one is taking you anywhere," he said sounding upset. "No one."

"I'm scared!" tears running down her cheeks. "I'm scared Paul!"

Paul tightened his grip around her even more. Tears gathered in his eyes, making his vision appear blurry. "Don't be," he assured her. "Don't be Pam."

"Save yourself the pain," Jack said, bringing him back to the presence.

He stopped punching his face, tears in his eyes, getting up.

"It hurts," Paul cried, turning sideways his hands hugging his body, he had rolled up like he was into a shell.

Jack's eyes widened. "It hurts so bad!" he cried even more blood running down his nose and lip. "I don't want to feel this anymore."

"Paul, Paul," Jack's voice came out hoarse, reaching his hand onto him.

"I feel so cold, hurt, dark and alone," Paul went on, his eyes wide open, his pupil decreasing. "I...I let it take her, I promised to take care of her, to take her to paradise, to protect her from this world but I failed my duties, I..."

"Paul! Paul!" shaking him. His eyes suddenly spotted the shadows spreading from beneath him.

"I'm not worth being called a big brother,"

Jack got on his knee as a memory flashed in his head.

The huge hand snatching his little sister along with him, but he fell back on the snow, groaning, his half open eyes watching the cannibal tossed her inside its mouth as she screamed. "JACK! JACK SAVE ME!"

Blood splashed as it chewed. A loud scream left his lips. Pain swimming in his heart like daggers.

Jack immediately pulled Paul up by his coat embracing him as more tears ran down his cheeks. Paul's shadows below him shrunk back in his body. "I am sorry Paul,"

Paul tightened his grip around him, also bursting in tears. "I'm sorry,"
