MY HEARTS, MY FAMILY

Two moose broke free from the sleigh and ran separated ways. “No, no, no…” William yelled, pulling rein of the remaining moose. A brown wolf suddenly landed on the front of the sleigh, with a grin on its face. “Damnit,” pulling his shot gun from beside him.

His eyes suddenly spotted the tree that had curved on the way. “EVERYONE GET DOWN!” speeding the sleigh.

The wolf headed for them but the tree knocked it off before it could get to William.  The sleigh drove passed as everyone got up.  A laughter broke from William’s lips. “HOW YOU LIKE THAT!” turning back on the road.

“UP!” Ann yelled, pointing at the few wolves running on the bump above them. “Won’t they quit,” William hissed. “Jack! I need you to shot those down.”

“On it,” Jack replied, aiming his shotgun at the first wolf. He pulled the trigger as the first one dropped rolling down the bump.

Suddenly one of the wolves appeared from nowhere jumped on the sleigh as Jack fired a bullet on it, but missed as it jumped onto Anna, who had her eyes wide opened. Hector appeared from behind pulling it by its tail. It immediately stopped. His eyes all black, like a demon, while he whispered something no one could grasp.

Jack fired the bullet at it head. Blood splashed on Anna’s face as the wolf’s carcass dropped off the sleigh. “Everything okay?” William asked.

“Yes,” Jack quickly replied, heading for Anna, realizing she had frozen. “Come,”

He pulled her by her arm, opening the blanket where Charles, who had his eyes opened, and arms around the basket was, guarding the basket. “Stay here,” closing the blanket.

The sleigh drove into a narrow path and the wolves stopped chasing them. “They are retreating,” Hector said, seated down.

“Seems so,” Jack said.

“Miss. Barbara and Paul,” he sounded concerned, looking around. “I cannot see them.”

William immediately applied brakes on the sleigh. He got off the sleigh pulling his shot gun.

“You aren’t…”

“I’m going to get them,” William completed the sentence for Hector, who had his eyes on him.

“You won’t make it,” Jack argued.

William brushed Hector’s hair, then turned to face Jack. “You in charge, take care of them till I return,”

“I’m coming with you,” Charles said moving the blanket off his face.

“No, you all stay here and hide,” pulled the blanket over them.

“I think you should go with one of us,” Jack supported Charles’s statement.

“No, I’ll be fine,” patted Jack on the shoulder. “Now you take care of them till I get back, okay?”

“MISS.BARBARA!” Anna yelled pointing at bloody Barbara who was emerging from the mist, carrying Paul.

“Barbara,” William said softly running toward her.

Charles and Anna also got off the sleigh and ran toward Barbara.

The shotgun on her bloody hand dropped on the snow as she also dropped on her knees. “Barbara,” William said, holding her.

“He’s hurt,” between deep breathes, moving groaning Paul towards William who picked him up.

Charles and Ann embraced Barbara who held them tightly to her. “Let’s go,” slowly getting up, picking both of them up, following William.
