Wednesday sat on her bed. Thinking. Thinking harder than she had in a while.

4 students had been mysteriously attacked less than an hour ago. Seven other people had been at the surprise party, but Yoko, Divana, Bianca, and Enid were the only ones who had sustained injuries.

The party was held at the Jericho Public Library. If Wednesday wanted to get to the bottom of this, that was the best place to start.

She flung her bag with Thing inside over her shoulder and opened her dorm door to see Ms. Blate. Ms. Blate was Mrs. Thornhill's sudden replacement and wasn't at all ready for her job.

"Hello Wednesday. I wanted to inform you that Enid is awake and in the infirmary if you would like to visit her. " she said, nervously fidgeting with her hands.

"Why would I visit her? Shouldn't I give her time to recuperate without distractions?" Wednesday responded plainly.

"Well, I heard around that you two were good friends and thought you should know."

Friends.

Wednesday simply nodded and politely walked past Ms. Blate.

She was almost at the front doors when a commotion down the hall caught her attention. It was a crowd of people gathered around the infirmary doors. Wednesday watched them fret and worry for several minutes until the new headmaster managed to shoo them all away.

Wednesday felt a tap on her shoulder. It was Thing and he was pointing at the infirmary door.

"No. The last thing they need is another visitor." Wednesday turned back to the front doors. She felt a tug in her chest and immediately headed to the infirmary. She clearly needed to be cured of this. . . odd form of heart failure.

She stepped in and was honestly surprised at everyone condition.

Yoko had received severe sunburns which shouldn't have been possible on this cloudy day.

Divana and Bianca had bruises that suggested they had been bound and gagged. Bianca also had marks around her neck.

It was like whatever had attacked them knew their exact weaknesses.

She walked straight across the room towards the nurse.

"Wednesday Addams." A voice said, almost disappointedly.

Wednesday stopped, glancing towards the voice. It was Bianca.

"If you're expecting a get well card, you're about to be disappointed." Wednesday said plainly.

Bianca waved her comment away. "Nah. I've had enough visitors. Just go check on your roommate."

Wednesday took a step at Bianca. "That is not why-"

"Wednesday?" A small voice called.

Wednesday turned sharply to see a barely awake Enid stepping out from behind a curtain.

Wednesday was slightly taken aback by the amount of bandages and bruises on her roommate.

"Enid. . ." She breathed. Enid opened her arms for a hug. "Enid." She said again more sternly.

Enid's ears drooped. "Right." She dropped her arms. "What a day, huh?"

Wednesday paused, wondering if she should ask about the attack. She had wanted a primary source, and here it was. So why did it feel wrong to ask?

"Indeed." Wednesday crossed her arms. "Do. . . you remember anything?"

Enid nodded slightly. "I thought you'd come to ask questions." She made a pouting face. "All that comes to mind is a bright light and five. . . maybe six guys surrounding us. Then there's screaming and then nothing." She looked up at Wednesday's unreacting face. "Sorry if that doesn't help your 'investigation.'"

Wednesday felt oddly guilty. Although she didn't know why. She wasn't the one lying. Or was it possible that Enid wasn't lying? She just couldn't remember the full truth because her mind considered it too painful?

"Actually, you've been more than helpful." Wednesday told her. Enid smiled and Wednesday felt the sudden need to get out of the infirmary.

"Well, I'll leave you to rest." Wednesday rushed out, completely forgetting about her heart failure.

Wednesday was about to step outside when something caught her eye. A pair of Converse shoes beside the fireplace near the front doors. One was yellow, one was green.

They were Enid's.

Wednesday paused to observe them and noticed they were freckled in blood. Wednesday picked one up to get a closer look.

Her head suddenly shot upward.

Divana comforted Yoko, who was gripping her unshielded eyes in pain.

Bianca stood up, ripping a rope off of her neck, revealing a bloody bruise.

Divana slammed into the wall and was handcuffed by dark hands.

Enid, with her claws out, screamed in anger. Seconds later, she was screaming in pain as she held her bleeding ears.

Six teenagers sitting in a booth at the Weathervane.

Wednesday stumbled backward, dropping the shoe. Thing appeared on her shoulder, worried.

She knew what had happened.

She knew who attacked them.
