"Shocker." Thing signed before turning away.

"What is that supposed to mean?" Wednesday hissed.

Thing turned slowly. Wednesday swore he was rolling his eyes in spirit. "Please. I have been pointing you in the right direction for too long. Go ask Bingo." He scuttled away.

Wednesday frowned. She did not want to talk to that cat. It liked her too much. Plus, its snowy white fur did not match her taste. And its blue eyes reminded her too much of Enid.

With a small sigh, she checked her schedule. Within seconds, it was in the trash, partly because she had memorized it already and partly because she learned she was rooming with Enid Sinclair yet again. She cursed her school system in her thoughts and marched up the stairs.

She swung the door to Ophelia Hall open. Enid jumped and dropped the book she was reading. Bingo fell off the shelf he was reclining on.

"Wens?!" Enid gasped.

"Yes, hello. . ." Wednesday said, a little annoyed at the world in general.

"I thought you would be moved down the hall. Seeing as you're a top student this year." Enid said softly.

Wednesday glanced over to her side of the room. It was exactly the same as she'd left it. She didn't have to do any rearranging or dismantling. She glanced back at Enid, whose face was buried in her hands. If she hadn't known Wednesday would be back, then why was the room like this?

"Uh, make yourself at home!" Enid mumbled before turning over and hiding in her book.

Wednesday rolled her eyes and set her bags under the bed. She quickly moved over to the desk and set her typewriter down there. A phone with a sparkly blue, pink, and purple case was sitting beside it. Wednesday picked it up carefully and it turned on. The screensaver was a raven and a wolf and a small icon in the corner read "Typewriter Noises To Help You Fall Asleep 10 Hours".

"That's odd." Wednesday thought, raising an eyebrow.

"Enid, might this be your cellular device?" Wednesday questioned, holding the phone up.

Enid made a squeaky panicked sound and practically jumped across the room.

"Ahahahaha! Yep, that's mine! How silly of me to just leave it over here! Hahahaha!" Enid could feel Wednesday's suspicious eyes on her but didn't dare look for fear of doing something foolish. "Well! I should really get to bed!"

"It is 4:12pm?" Wednesday cocked her head.

"Ahahahaha! Yeah, you know werewolves! Need our beauty rest! Oh yeah! Haha!" Enid stood their nervously and snatched her phone back. "Okay, yeah, goodnight!" She jumped back onto her bed and shut her desk lamp off.

Wednesday stared at her for a moment, watching her body rise and fall with each breath. She suddenly felt very embarrassed and looked away. The tug in her chest appeared again, much stronger this time. For a moment it felt like she was dying. She needed to lay down.

She moved from her desk to the bed and reclined. She stared at the ceiling and the ceiling stared back. She tossed. She turned. A sinking feeling entered her head, then her stomach, then both. She finally sat up, frustrated beyond words and quietly exited the dorm.

She snaked her way down the girls' corridors and came across Ajax and Kent. Both of them noticed her first and began sweating. Kent furiously texted the group chat while Ajax quietly prayed.

"You two." Wednesday ordered. The pair jumped. "May I borrow one of your devices?"

"You mean. . . phones?" Ajax said cautiously.

"Yes. That."

"You can use mine. You don't need to see what's on Ajax's." Kent smirked.

"Dude!" Ajax whisper-shouted.

"Be cool!" Kent whisper-shouted back as he handed Wednesday his phone with slightly shaking hands.

Wednesday took it and struggled to find the search app.

"Can I ask what happened to your phone? I thought Xavier got you one?" Ajax questioned quietly.

"I broke it over the break. Purposefully." Wednesday said nonchalantly, not moving her eyes from the screen.

Ajax gave Kent a sideways glance. The siren had a desperately scared look in his eyes.

"Weeelll. . . you might want to tell Enid that." Ajax suggested.

Wednesday snapped her eyes up. Ajax jumped. "Elaborate."

"S-she, uh, tried messaging you a lot over the summer and w-would get upset cuz you didn't respond. Y-ya know?" Ajax explained, taking a step away from the small murderous Latina.

The odd chest pain returned which brought Wednesday back to her Googling.

* * *

After a few minutes, she slowly headed Kent his phone back.

"Thank you." She said grimly.

"N-no problem?" Kent grinned as he and Ajax took slow steps away from her.

Wednesday gripped the railing beside her until her fingers hurt.

How could she have been so blind?

Thing appeared on the railing. "Wednesday? Is everything okay?" He asked, worried she was having another panic attack.

She didn't even look at him. She just started walking slowly towards her dorm.
