If you like this song, please take the time to check out this amazing artist! Shayfer James' album 'Counterfeit Arcade' is a literal masterpiece and I won't be convinced otherwise.
Anyways, we get more Sanin content in this chapter so be prepared. I absolutely love this era of Naruto because there are so many influential people that have there origins in these very years and me, as a certified gotta-pull-them-in-youngTM advocate, I just had to do something about the criminally low number of child!sanin content out there.
So yeah, I hope you like it and enjoy!

Himari would like to state that this occurrence is one she had no say in. She has no idea why a very whiney boy is currently clinging onto her legs like his life depends on it. She also doesn't know why said boy chose her out of everyone when he should know literally anyone but her better. It's her second day at the orphanage, but apparently, as soon as you treat a child in said institute with even an ounce of human decency, they attach themselves to you like a leech.
That's not very pleasant for Himari for two reasons. One, she really doesn't like someone she doesn't know touching her without asking first and the second, arguably more important thing is that the boy is someone she has seen before, although only through a screen.
Jiraiya looks at her with eyes that scream 'help me please!!!' as if the only current threat to his wellbeing is the one he is currently squeezing tightly.
"Could you please let go of me, Jiraiya-san? I am very uncomfortable with you touching me just like that."
This seems to finally let him register the reality of this situation and he lets go, although he's still hiding behind her like the scariest monster known to mankind will suddenly come around the corner-
One of the caretakers, Himari thinks her name is Kyou, strides towards her with purposeful steps. No, not her, but Jiraiya. Now, Himari doesn't need to analyse very hard to know what Kyou feels right now, because the anger and disgust on her face couldn't be clearer. It itches her in all the wrong ways to feel that gaze directed towards a child and she silently asks herself when her no-feelings policy was broken.
Probably when she saved Sasori from that worm, but it's definitely coming back to haunt her now. But, well, it makes her fit in a bit more with the other kids and that's great because she really can't afford to be thrown out after coming here. It's very clear that her status as citizen is extremely fragile right after just being accepted.
"Brat, what did you do to the rice, it's all purple! Fix this right now or you won't get anything to eat for a week!"
Those words rip her out of her thoughts and she shields Jiraiya with her hand.
"Miss Kyou, may I ask to see the rice? I know a way to turn things back to their original colour."
It's a blatant lie, she can turn things white but nothing else. It's what her clan used on all those goddamn walls after all. And not just that! The table: white. The dishes: white! The cutlery: white! The fucking food: White!!! The Kaguya think that they are a pure clan and must therefore wear, eat and make everything that goddamn colour!
Fucking dumbasses, don't they know how hard it is to wash blood of a white robe?! That's why every child in the Kaguya-clan learns how to turn things white as one of their first chores. Heavens know how it works, because there is no chakra needed in the process, but they don't have any super strong laundry-detergent either and it just kind of does it by itself which is ridiculous!
Himari has had more than one silent breakdown back when she still tried to find out how it works, but she's given up on and moved past it, although it does still irk her a bit that she doesn't know how it operates. Finding out how things work is a good thing, because then you can understand things that you previously had no idea of and it's great.
