Shoutout to everyone who has read svsss. Just finished the main story and I'm now scouring the internet for content. Must. find. good. stories.

Don't be shy, drop recs right here. I'm dying over here, I can't just look through twenty pages of Ao3 like it's nothing, I still have to do that for Cod! (Wouldn't mind any recomendations for that one either)

Anyways, hope you have fun reading!

Two weeks go by in a flash and so, it's time for Himari to go to school again. Yay.

Granted, she didn't learn how to incinerate a target with her breath or how to climb a tree without hands, but that doesn't change the fact that it's school. Ugh.

This is the day when Jiraiya will meet Tsunade and Orichimaru. It makes her a bit nervous; she did refuse to introduce them beforehand after all. Class 1 is the one she was admitted to, because there are less kids entering the academy than the previous years and it doesn't make sense to divide them.

She meets up with the little pervert in the hallway, he's totally lost trying to find the classroom they are meant to go to. Not really surprising, considering how hard it is fur him to read anything that isn't borderline porn. She really wants to know where he got that from, that fixation on anything remotely sexual, but she isn't one to pry.

As long as he doesn't peek at inappropriate times, she can let it slide. It's even a bit funny sometimes, she has to admit. Tsunade tackles her from behind before she can even think about sitting down, hugging her and looking Jiraiya up and down with a scrutinising gaze.

"So this is that famous friend you didn't want us to meet? He looks like a degenerate."

Himari sighs. If only she knew.

"Tsunade, Orichimaru, this is Jiraiya. Jiraiya, Tsunade and Orichimaru. I hope you can all get along."

"Why are you hugging Himari without her consent? Don't you know she doesn't like that, weirdo?"

"She actually allowed me to hug her whenever I want so suck it!"

They start bickering, but not in a very hostile way. All in all, this could've gotten way worse, even if she has two people clinging onto her like leeches for the rest of their free time who shout at each other.

Orichimaru sends her a smile that just screams 'sorry you have to endure that but it's better than me getting into this discussion', that little shit. Eventually, the bell rings and everyone goes to sit down on their respective places. Their names are written on a piece of paper that lays on their seats and to the trio's disappointment, none of them sits next to Himari.

She takes her seat in the back row, next to a white-haired kid-

Okaaaaaaay, so Sakumo Hatake is sitting next to her. Sakumo Hatake! One of her favourite characters with nearly no screen time, that one! He beams at her but doesn't strike up a conversation because the teacher enters the classroom at that exact moment.

The teacher goes over the attendance list, but Himari is to bewildered by not freaking out to listen until she hears her name, which pulls her out of her stupor. She raises her hand and the tutor, Toge-san, marks her name.

To distract herself from the boy next to her, she sweeps her eyes over the other students in the class and nearly gets a heart-attack.

"Kagami Uchiha." she hears the professor say, right as her gaze locks onto a head of dishevelled, black hair. That- shouldn't he be older than them by at least six years? But on the other hand, Sasori was only a year younger than her... She must've memorized their information wrong.

It doesn't matter anyways, since she can't change those circumstances so why not just accept it? Both of them are criminally underrated and deserve the world. Himari absolutely adores the older generations, be it the warring states era or the third great shinobi war. There is much more creative freedom allowed when a character only has two sentences written about them.

The lessons pass without her truly registering anything, not until she's standing outside with the baby-Sanin at her side, all of which complain about not sitting next to her in some type of way. It's sweet, really, and she feels very honoured, but it might be for the best. She only has two sides after all and if the seatings were up to them, it would be war.

"...and the boy next to me wanted to talk to me and I told him to shut up and that he could shove the friendship he wanted up his ass but he just kept trying and it was so annoying and I wanted to punch him but didn't want to get into trouble and he's so ugly and can't get a hint to save his life and I just don't like him at all. This wouldn't be a problem if we could choose our seatings! Such a dumb rule!"

Himari nods, trying to listen to Tsunade and Jiraiya at the same time while paying attention to Orichimaru's facial expressions because he doesn't complain the same way the others do but she doesn't want him to feel neglected either and it's just all so very difficult.

"Guys!", she nearly shouts, effectively shutting them up.

"Could we please move on from this topic and maybe actually pay attention to where we're going because I've never been in this part of the village and missing the beginning of the next lesson os really the last thing I want to happen on our first day of school!"

They take a good look around at that, seeming to agree with her after that.

"This is just because Jiraiya was talking so loud so I had to talk so loud and then we got lost!"

And so, they begin arguing again, not noticing Himari sneakily taking Orichimaru's hand, which the boy grasps in confirmation. How easy life seems at those times, when she can forget about everything and just live in the moment, her knowledge nothing but words whispered like a mantra during dark nights, blown away by the wind.

She could get used to this, maybe. Maybe, unlike all the things before, this is meant to last for longer than a few months. Maybe, this is meant to last for eternity, maybe not. She is an unknown component of the equation after all, the x one has to solve for in every calculation. But she has no chance of understanding the equasion with her measly brain, so she guesses.

Can you see that I have math-exams tomorrow? At least I'm nearly finished with exam season after this. What a nightmare it is everytime.

Himari??? Warming up to someone???? Genuinely????? Without tangible plans to leave for good???? What has the world come to. Maybe, the things she cares about are not the remarkable, once in a lifetime events but mundane, everyday stuff that gives her a sense of security.

Two new charactes are mentioned in this chapter and believe me, they are very important. Simping for Sakumo and Kagami is my duty as their number-one fan. Who would like to join my cult? We bake cookies and play minecraft every friday.
