x. illegal bets and anything but the rain

Selina and Nathan was in a cafe, and they just saw Jiho's money being 'borrowed' by one of his 'friends'. Selina had frowned and approached Jiho who was with Duke. She took out several bills from her wallet and had given it to Jiho.

"Here's for the money you lost. If they ever ask for more just punch them in the face." Selina advised as she crossed her arms.

"S-Selina Choi?" Duke stuttered.

"P-P-Punch?!" Jiho gaped.

"If they ever want money, they should just work hard for it. There's a lot of jobs to do." Selina complained.

"I agree. If you ever need help, we can help you with it." Nathan smiled.

"I-It's okay, guys... It's nothing. You don't have to worry..." Jiho assured.

"Suit yourself," Selina shrugged. "But in the mean time... Give me your phones." She held out her hand.

The two reluctantly gave them to her.

"I'm putting my number in. In case anything happens. Nathan, put yours too." Selina explained.

"Alright." The two then gave back their phones.

Selina and Nathan then went to find a table to drink their drinks. Nathan had ordered an Americano while Selina ordered a caramel latte, since she got a sweet tooth.

It was not long after that Jiho and Duke waved at the two, and left the cafe. Selina felt the back of her neck rise and went to see in the direction. It was one of Jace Park's workmate and Selina could see him analyzing Jiho very intently.

"Something wrong?" Nathan asked.

"Nothing. Just an odd feeling..."

"Are you guys gambling?" Selina frowned as she got into the convenience store. Jiho, Duke, Daniel, Zoe, and the guy Selina was sussing out earlier was there too. His name was John.

"He won 1.600.000 won!" Duke explained. Selina felt chills, and turned to the source.

Selina had glared at John who just smiled.

"I hope you don't get addicted, Jiho." Selina advised and took a bag of chips, some candy, and a Vitamin water.

"Do you want to join too, miss...?" John had offered.

"No thanks. I'm already rich." Selina shrugged and held her chin up. She didn't like that guy. She paid for her stuff then went home, feeling like something big is about to happen.

Selina bought a butterfly knife. She didn't know why, but she did. It really helped with her fidgeting as her brain was thinking hard about this Illegal Toto thing. More of her classmates had started playing it and she could see how it changed them, more especially, Jiho.

It was obvious he had lost since he showed up to school very pale.

Jiho even started to ask their friends for money. Even Selina. Selina reluctantly let him borrow 200.000 won, on the condition that he doesn't spend it on the betting app. She watched as he quickly nodded happily and asked around again if he could borrow more money.

And it all went downhill from there.
