xxxviii. a day with eugene

Almost two weeks had passed since Jiho's death. Selina had went back to school since there wasn't any significant activity in Workers that needed her. If there was, Eugene simply texts her. Things had really died down in a while.

Selina had gone back to her normal afternoon runs playing Pokemon Go, and a morning run every few days. She continued her training with Goo when he's available and when he's not, she trains alone.

Today she is in Eugene's school since he had invited her to play tennis. Mandeok was on the sides as referee while Cap Guy was nowhere to be seen. Eugene said that he was doing some errands.

Despite his small and average looking body, Eugene was quite agile and knows how to pick his fights. Selina had a hard time when he tried aiming for her blind spots.

"You're good at this, Eugene." Selina huffed as the two took a water break. "Do you play like this in other sports too?"

"I'm only good at tennis." Eugene chuckled and wiped his face with a towel.

"Wow, you're so down to Earth," Selina chuckled.

"You're a fast learner as well. For every point I get you try hard to gain it back." He complimented.

"I'm quite competitive, you see." She admitted. "I like to win."

"So do I. Maybe we can try playing a game?"

"Bring it on!" She grinned.

Selina gasped as she heard a pang. Her racket fell and she instantly ran to the other court in worry.

"Eugene! Are you okay? I'm sorry!"

Selina quickly took his face gently and turned it. Eugene's left side of his face was red, and his glasses had fallen. Selina had accidentally hit him with the tennis ball.

"I'm alright." Eugene tried to calm her down.

"No, you are not. I just hit you with a fast ball. It must've hurt." She sighed. Mandeok came over with a towel. Selina took it and gently dabbed his face with it. Mandeok took Eugene's glasses and cleaned it.

"This is my fault. I get too overly competitive in games--"

"Not really. I could've dodged it but apparently I've got a lot in my mind." Mandeok passed Eugene's glasses back to him.

Selina heard footsteps running. It was Cap Guy and he looked quite worried as he saw Eugene. Eugene took time to calm the guy down and say that he was alright. Cap Guy helped him up.

"You get cleaned up, I'll get my injuries checked since he's worrying. We'll meet by lunch."

And with that, Eugene and Cap Guy was gone.

"I'll lead you to the showers." Mandeok informed.

"R-Right... I hope he's okay though." Selina sighed.

"He'll be fine." Mandeok assured. "Eugene's stronger than you think."

"Okay."

Selina waited for Eugene diligently at his private lounge. Mandeok had informed her that he had gotten his injuries checked and was taking a shower.

Eugene came not long after with Cap Guy in tow.

"Did you wait long for me?" He smiled.

"N-Not really." Selina looked down.

"Then why do you look unpleasant?" Eugene asked attentively, sitting down across her.
