xxix. meeting the boss baby

The next day, Samuel told Selina that they were going to Gangseo, which Selina was sure they were going to see Jake. But it turns out, they were going to meet the Chairman of Workers first at his basecamp. It was a school. A rich person's private high school. How interesting.

As she walked behind Samuel into the office, she was shocked to see some boy sitting in the boss's chair.

"Worker's boss is a middle schooler...?" Selina frowned.

"I'm in my 3rd year of high school." The boy smiled politely.

"Oh... You're older than me then. Sorry, you just look so young..." Selina said sheepishly.

"It's fine, Miss Selina Choi. Please sit," He motioned to the seat in front of him.

Selina eyed the two people behind him warily. One had a big body, he looked strong and menacing, while the other wore a cap, and looked very mysterious.

"Ah, they're my friends. Please don't mind them." The boy explained. "I'm Eugene. I finally get to meet you, Selina Choi."

"I would introduce myself but you already know my name so..." Selina trailed off. Eugene just continued reading her file that was on his tablet.

"First and only daughter of Chris Choi and Yumi Mori, a Japanese."

Selina's eyes widen. Samuel, who had been leaning back on the wall got interested.

"They left South Korea when you were just 10 years old without saying goodbye. You get a lot of monthly allowance from them, but they never seem to contact you. Isn't that a mystery?"

Now she knows why his smile turned sinister.

He had every information about her.

"How--"

"You moved to your own two floor penthouse apartment by the age of 15. By 17, you went to Jaewon High and got in the Fashion Department, even though you aspired to be a professional gamer and make a gaming company of your own."

"I know you're trying to flex how much information you gained about me, but how the heck did you know about my parents...?" Selina asked curiously.

"What do you mean by that?" Eugene asked back.

"You know my parents, especially my mother's real name. Even I didn't know until you told me today." Selina leaned on the table. "She may be the woman that gave birth to me, I always call her madam. As far as I know her name was Yumi Kwon. She was a Japanese all along?"

Selina sighed and leaned back on her chair.

"Then that... Explains everything..." She whispered to herself. Eugene looked like he wanted her to elaborate.

"Sorry. Just an old thing that I remembered." She apologized.

"Are you not curious on where your parents are?" Eugene leaned closer, trying to bring her back to the topic.

"Now? No. I used to, but why do I need to find out about the whereabouts of the two people that had abandoned me?" She smiled sadly.

"Did they?" Eugene smirked.

"Huh?"

"Did they really abandon you?" Eugene tilted his head, "They left you engaged with Jake Kim, no?"

Selina's eyes widened and felt a pricking sensation behind her. She turned around to see Samuel's fiery gaze.

"They got you engaged with him since you were just kids, and even after they left you kept being close to Jake. Didn't you see him just yesterday?"
