The Dragon's Breath was the name of the pub at the top of the hill, overlooking the sea. We walked in, hit with the heat from a roaring fire. I ducked as a small fire ball shot towards me and exploded against the wall behind me. With wide eyes, I searched for the culprit who had thrown it at me and saw a small baby dragon in the corner of the room sat in the lap of a large bearded man. I smiled at the dragon, noticing immediately that it was a Chinese Fireball. The man winked at me, taking a sip of his beer, which immediately wiped the smile off my face- sending a shiver to delicately trace its fingers across my spine. Leon found my arm and guided me towards the bar. A goblin waddled across the countertop. He stopped in front of Jay, ruffling his dirty blonde hair with his waxy hands.
"Watson," he grumbled with a smile. "What can I get for you and your... friends." He looked over our faces. He stomped over to Leon and I, kicking a glass off the bar and letting it smash on the floor. Heads turned to see the commotion. The small man pointed aggressively to a sign propped up on the counter. "Can't you read?" he spat. Our eyes scanned over the writing.
NO WITCHES OR WIZARDS UNDER THE AGE OF EIGHTEEN
"I am eighteen." Leon said, sighing with boredom. I shuffled nervously. The goblin noticed.
"What about you, pretty?" he said, pointing a grimy finger towards me.
I didn't say anything. The goblin went to lay a hand on me but Jay stepped in before he had the chance. "Okay, that's enough Fordy. I'll take a Swott Malt whiskey on the rocks, Dani what do you want?"
"I'll take a large glass of elderflower wine, please." she said to the goblin. Jay looked down at her with a warm surprised smile. She looked back at him. "What?"
"Nothing, it's just... is elderflower wine still your favourite?"
"Yeah. It makes me feel nostalgic. Brings me comfort," she said. I couldn't help but feel sad knowing that it probably helped her focus on the little good there was in her life, distracting her from the horrors of what Voldermort put her through. Jay squeezed her closer to him.
"We'll take two Butterbeers as well," Jay ordered for us. The goblin waddled away grumpily. We waited as our drinks were made, standing awkwardly in the midst of other witches and wizards drinking and playing cards. The clang of two glasses smacked down aggressively on the bar startled me. The foam spilt over the edge causing Leon to scoff with frustration.
"Thanks," I said quietly, taking my Butterbeer and following Leon to a table out the front of the pub. We sat down facing the crashing waves in the distance. The sun was beginning to set, sending purples and pinks to splash across the sky.
"One down," Leon said. "Only two to go." He took a sip of his drink, forming a white foamy moustache across his lips. I smiled at him, taking a sip myself to join his look. We both burst into a fit of laughter at our childish behaviour.
