She nor her technology belonged here.
He knew that, he knew but he couldn't handle the thought of her finally leaving his side.
He knew she would one day, but not now.
Not yet.
Desperate crimson orbs penetrated the innocent eyes of y/n, she was looking at him. him.
Not his discarded laden mask that hid his wildly grotesque appearance. But him.
Her fingers curled and whitened against the pressure she created; she was clenching her hands as though touching him would have ended her life right then and there.
Thoughts weaved webs in Zandik's mind, critically analysing his current problem with efficiency. Unfeeling to her hesitance, he watched her every movement with eagle eyes.
Finally, she unclenched her hands and gently, as though Zandik was as fragile as fractured glass, she placed her palm against his cheek and leaned in.
It was the first time he had let anyone get this close to him like this. His eyes closed and his breath shook, letting her place tender kisses against his scar-riddled skin. Letting her in.
With an unrecognised emotion, he opened his blood-stained orbs and took in her presence wholly. A bubbling warmth forced itself into Zandik's pupils and reflected against y/n's own bright, emotion-filled eyes.
"There is so much I want to tell you," the words were foreign to his ears, yet he continued on. Fear dripped with each and every word he spoke. Fear of losing her.
Her eyes, intermingled with fire, were radiant against the harsh laboratory lighting above, did she find this amusing? his pain? his love?
No, she felt the same, he was certain. She loved him.
He could tell, as he spewed word after word of his adoration. She was silent, contemplating, brimming with fondness perhaps.
For him? a preposterous thought, but one that had weeded its way into Zandik's mind long ago nonetheless.
And to prove it, she spoke in her softest quietest tone.
Fireworks exploded within Zandik's heart, a veil of glitter fluttered over his line of vision and all he could see was her lips, her eyes, and the way she crinkled her nose when she said experiment.
His head was weak and giddy, an explosion of colours surrounded his love, and all he could see was her.
Until finally she was close enough and lips caressed lips. He invited her cold warmth with vigour, taking in her parched cupid bow and biting her bottom lip with a desperation he had not felt in so long.
