"Master Tighnari!"

"Master Tighnari! I'm back!"

Collei practically dragged me into the village, one of her arms around my waist to hold me up.

Don't get me wrong though it's not like I need the help, but this hunger has me feeling so weak, I may have let her think I was injured...

"Master Tighnari, I found someone injured just outside the village" We all but burst into a cosy-looking hut made out of what looked to be bamboo wood and leaves.

Sitting in a wooden chair and crouched over a desk, a man with black hair, green highlights and uhh ears? turned to face Collei and me. The sudden arrival must have disturbed him, he looked slightly perturbed.

"Thank you, Collei, please set her down on the bed." He quickly went into action, getting up from his seat and grabbing a bunch of medical supplies; after seeing the state my clothes were in, he decided to grab a cloth and filled a bucket of water up too.

Collei sat me down on the bed and excused herself from the room, likely to provide some doctor-patient privacy.

"Now then, mind telling me how you got these injuries?" He asked, dragging his seat to face me on the bed.

Observing my clothes he added, "Those blood stains are old, is it safe to assume you were able to safely clean your wounds or should I slap you on the wrist."

"Huh?" I did a double-take. Did he just threaten me with a wrist slap? Like a kid?

"Oh, come on this is basic common sense!" An exasperated expression formed on his face, assuming I hadn't cleaned the 'wound'. He dunked the piece of cloth in his hand into the bucket next to him, wrung it out and then applied some sort of herbal medicine onto it. "Where's the damage."

"Okay, first of all, I don't like being reprimanded by a complete stranger! Seco-"

"Hey, I'm the one who can treat you. Don't make me put frog eggs in your medicine"

Taken aback at his disturbing interruption, I huffed. "Secondly,  I don't have a wound. I'm not bleeding and this is not my blood. It's-"Oh shit, whose blood is this? Everything was a blur back then and I can't say it was from another human. More importantly, the transportation device? The chip implant? I can't tell him any of this.

"Uh, the blood is" I could see him start to look at me with suspicion. There is no way in hell I can say it's from another person. I'd be kicked from this place, or worse, they'll place me under arrest and question me with violent tactics. "This blood is from an animal I tried to kill cause I was hungry."

"An animal?" He seemed unconvinced, especially considering how long it took me to answer him. "You're telling me you killed an animal without any sort of weapon and cooked it without any fire?"

"How would you know I didn't have any of that stuff?"

"I think it's pretty obvious what with Collei having found you sleeping against a tree, defenceless and cold."

That was a fair point. "Okay, so what are you insinuating." My guard was up. I couldn't let myself be thrown into jail without a plan to get out of this place.

"It's far too early to insinuate anything sinister. But I will be keeping you here." He saw I was about to interrupt. "Ah, if you try running off I can assure you, you won't survive without the help of me and my forest rangers. If you were struggling out there before imagine how much you'll be struggling when you pass the village and enter the thick of the forest?"

Ugh, he made another really good point. "Fine, I'll stay. As long as I get some food and uh, a place to rest..." I begrudgingly agreed.

"I wouldn't leave you sleeping outside in the village. What do you take me for?" He sighed. "In all this trouble, I never got your name. So tell me, what is it."

Is he asking or demanding, jeez. "It's y/n, Tighnari. Thank you for your hospitality."

"Y/n... Doesn't sound like a local name. Where are you from?" He further interrogated, whilst packing away his medical supplies.

Ah crap, I can't tell him I'm from a completely different reality from him, he'll think I'm insane and lock me up! Think, think, think... "I don't think I want to answer that, so..."

Tighnari looked up from his tray of medical utensils. Unsure of what to say, he walked back over to his desk and sat back down. "Well, in that case, get out and look for Collei. I have work to do and if you're unwilling to at least make conversation then I don't need you here. Especially seeing as you're healthy."

Mouth wide open, I looked the pointy-eared man up and down thinking about how rude a person can be. Honestly, not even phased by his ears. I've seen a lot of really messed up shit.

"What am I supposed to say when I see Collei." I asked, feigning nonchalance.

"Shouldn't that be obvious? You wanted a place to sleep, right? Collei should be able to make arrangements in one of our guest houses." Without even glancing my way, he shooed me out and got back to whatever he was doing at his desk.

He's lucky I'm not a violent person, what a prick.
