Blood

My fingers curled inwards slightly against my chest whilst my prosthetic hand with the adamantium claw hid behind my back. Trying to calm the palpitations that wracked my body, I walked over to the edge of the steps leading down from the control room. The sphere overlooked the whole of the ruin guard's moss-covered metal structure. There was a hauntingly beautiful silence that brought peace into my beating heart and veins, despite what was about to take place.

I looked down at the two guards, carelessly staring absentmindedly away from the room I was confined to, oblivious to what is going to happen in just a mere minute.

Unsteady, on shaken legs, my shoes clinked against the metal steps as I gradually descended from the sphere room. Their heads perked up as they heard the light tinkering of metal, "Hey! What do you think you're doing." One of them exclaimed, a hand suddenly on his holster.

I looked up at the Fatui man who had spoken and grit my teeth, willing my eyes to tear up. "I think I'm..." I looked towards the other guard on duty, blinking in innocence, all the while inducing more tears. "I don't feel comfortable telling you."

He narrowed his eyes and gripped the weapon in his holster. "Get back inside then."

I looked back at the other guard on duty once again, letting my mind run for more thoughts, "I am on my period!" I blurted out, "Could you please just" and looked away haughtily. "Just find a female soldier or something."

The two Fatui soldiers were taken aback by my embellished lie, the one that had previously spoken removed his hand from his holster and mustered out an apology. "There are no female Fatui soldiers on guard right now."

I took more steps down from the control room and pretended to scratch a spot on my scalp, near where the scalpel was holding my hair up. "No, really? that is a shame."

Fingers clasped around the scalpel and I pulled it out, allowing my hair to cascade and sway from the action. I slashed the unsuspecting Fatui soldier's jugular vein as I revealed my other hand, all the while I exclaimed through gritted teeth, "But my blood will not be the one to spill from my body."

Crimson torn from the gasping, breathless man's neck squirted across the ruin guard's metal fortress as he fell to the floor. I willed my body to look away before my plan failed and swiftly turned to face the other guard, who was looking horrified at his teammate. Through a tensed jaw, I dropped the scalpel and yelled out as my gloved hand swung in his direction.

The soldier's wide eyes settled on my hand and he dodged, grabbed my wrist and brought his staff up to attack, fury fueling his actions.

I growled out in frustration, attempting to pull my wrist out of his grasp; the titanium-like metal of the prosthetic easily dragged the man's tight grip with it. Then just as the man was about to slam his staff into my temple I ducked and fell to the floor before hissing, my head hitting the can that was trapped inside my hood. The man, who had an iron grip on my wrist was yanked down with me, through my slightly disorientated vision, I grabbed his staff and wrapped my legs around his torso whilst huffing in my adrenaline-filled state.

The soldier groaned in anger as he attempted to pull the staff out of my grip, but to no avail. I smirked at his failed attempts before using the heavy prosthetic hand to force its way around his neck, his hand still tightly wrapped around its wrist. I tightened my hold and watched as the panic settled in, letting go of everything, he clawed at my unharmed hand, coughing and spluttering in sheer panic and unrest.
