It's finally here, February 14... Valentine's Day. I stopped at the cafe to get myself a cup of coffee to start the day, I walked on the sidewalk to the bakery. I could see students dressed in red and white, couples getting all lovey dovey.
I opened the bakery doors and turned the closed sign over to indicate we were open, i am going to have a very busy day today. Liv won't be working today because she has a date with Liam, she is completely clueless about the proposal. She insisted she'd come and help me till noon but I assured her I could handle it.
My first batch of customers was a group of teenage girls who came to buy heart shaped cookies. After that more customers kept on coming in, I kept going back and forth from the cash register and to the kitchen.
I immediately ran out cup cakes and I had to bake a new batch, I was mixing in the flour and a long line had already start to form.
"Excuse me", a voice said from behind me
I turned my head to look at who it was, my hands still covered with flour. A young man was standing behind me wearing black pants and a black button down shirt. He had deep blue eyes, his height towered me.
"What are you doing here, you shouldn't be here", I wiped my hands on my apron
"You seem really busy and the line is really long", he looked around. "You really need someone here to help you"
"Thanks a lot but I can manage"
"I have been standing in the line for the past 30 minutes", he crossed his arms across his chest
"Well my co-woker is not around today and I have just two hands as you can see", I sighed in exhaustion
"I could help you", he offered.
"No, thank you", I declined as politely as I could
I am really protective of my bakery, apart from Liv and Liam no one has ever worked here before. He grabbed my hand and pulled me to the kitchen door
"Can you see the line, people will start leaving soon if they are unattended too", he reasoned
"Thanks but I can't just let you work here"
He gets his wallet from his back pocket, he removes his ID card and drivers license and hands it to me. "Here, you can hold on to this, I am not a criminal. I work at the delivery agency, I just want to help".
I was about to decline when I spotted a lady leaving, I looked back at the work which had to be done in the kitchen and long line which had formed in front of the counter. Why am I always placed in such situations
"Okay, you can help take orders and work the cash register but I would be holding on to this", i placed his ID card in my back pocket
"Sure", he drops his wallet on the the kitchen table. He folds his sleeves and grabs an apron from behind the kitchen door.
Valentine came early, lol....Happy Valentine's Day in advance Royals. Thank you y'all for the love and support
