A Date For Val

Chapter 14

I turned the open sign over to indicate that we are closed. I went to the kitchen to get us dinner, i served apple pie, muffins and sausage rolls in a tray while Nathan got two plates from the cabinet and forks.

We both sat down to eat, I was really hungry and am sure he was very hungry too. We had light conversations during our dinner, we seemed to enjoy each other's company.

"So what do you do when you are not working here at the bakery", he took a bite from the muffin

"I sit at home binge watching reality shows, but am usually always here"

"Nice, do you have any plans for tomorrow", he asked. "Are you open tomorrow?"

" I don't know, am really exhausted from today. I might take tomorrow off",A yawn escaped my mouth. "Sorry"

"Tired are we?", he giggled. "I think we should go home", he stood up

We cleared the place, turned off the light and locked the bakery. Nathan insisted on walking me home, he walked me to the building and bid me goodnight.

My phone vibrated on the side table, I stretched my hand to pick up my phone. I rubbed my eyes and looked at the screen of my phone, is was Liv.

"Hello Liv", i yawned

"Hello Ava", she chirped. "Guess what?!"

"What", I giggled

"Liam proposed to me last nigh, he took me in a romantic date and we went for a walk in park, then he knelt down and asked me to marry him", she said in one breathe

"Oh really", I chuckled.

"Wait a minute, you knew about this, didn't you?", she caught me

"Yes", I laughed. "Did you say yes", even though I knew the answer I still asked

"How could I say no to that beautiful ring", she giggled

"Am so happy for you", I said with a genuine smile

"Thanks, we would be going out for dinner and you are coming okay"

"Alright", I hung up

I got out of bed and went to the bathroom, I brushed my teeth and washed my face. Since I won't be going to the bakery today, I decided to do my laundry. I got my dirty clothes and put them in the washer. While I picked up the jeans I wore yesterday, two cards fell from the pocket

I picked up the cards and took a look at it, it was Nathan's drivers license and ID card. I forgot to give it back to him last night, I placed the cards on the table

I went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast, i couldn't decide what to eat so I settled for potatoes. I got some potatoes and started to peel them

I heard a knock on the door, I dropped the tray of potatoes and washed my hands. "Am coming", I wiped my hands on my apron

I peeped through my little peep hole but i couldn't get a full view of the person. I opened the door and I was stunned by who was standing at my door. My eyes widened in shock

"N-n-athan ", i stammered

"Good morning Ava", he greeted with a smile, he was wearing a grey joggers and a white T shirt. His hair was slightly ruffled

"Good morning Nathan", I greeted back. "Come in", i shifted so he could make it through the door
