A Date For Val

Chapter 17

I took a bath and brushed my teeth, my outfit hanging on the hanger. I had scrambled eggs and coffee for breakfast, I didn't want to eat anything heavy because my mum would over feed me once I get there.

I packed a little bag with my basic necessity, a spare dress just in case, my charger, EarPods, wallet and shit...

I totally forgot I was supposed to buy a gift for the exchange of gifts, I guess I would do that on our way there. I checked to make sure nothing was left out

My phone rang, Nathan called to let me know he was downstairs. I turned off the lights, lock the doors and went downstairs . He was standing outside his car

"Hi", he greeted with a smile opening the door for me

"Thank you", I got into the passenger seat, I turned and dropped my bag behind buckling my seat belt while he got in

"Are you ready", he asked fastening his seatbelt

"Yes, but we would have to stop at the mall to buy presents first", I informed him

"No problem", he turned on the engine of the car

We made a stop at the mall to get presents, we got two presents and wrapping papers. I wrapped up the gifts when we got to the car

It was a two hours drive to my mum's place, Nathan drove while I gave him directions. We had light conversations sometimes silence fell upon us leaving only the radio to fill in the space

As soon as we pulled into the street, I felt the need to warn Nathan again

"You really didn't have to but if you feel like leaving or get uncomfortable just signal me"

"Why would I feel uncomfortable", he chuckled

"My mum is going to think we are couple and she would get all cheesy and pushy on you", I know how my mum can be. "And my cousins would definitely ask you a lot of questions"

"It's going to be okay, I can manage trust me. We just have to communicate with each other"

"True", I sighed pointing towards the direction of my mum's house

Nathan found a convenient spot to park, we got our stuff from the car and walked across the street to the front yard of my mum's house. My cousin's were here already, they live rather close

I knocked on the door and in a few minutes the door swings open and my mum pops out pulling me into a hug.

"Ava darling", she pinched my cheeks. Her eyes fell on Nathan, she gave him a quick scan and grin appeared on her face

"Who is the young handsome man", she wiggled her eyebrows

Oh mom!!

"This is Nathan", i gestured towards him. "Nathan this is my mum, Gwen"

"Nice to meet you Mrs Gwen", he puts forth his hand but my typical mum discards it and pulled him into a hug too

"Can we go in now", I shake my head

"Sure, everyone is here", she lead us in. "Everyone Ava is here", she announced

And we have finally arrived at the love feast...am so giddy lol
