The flames flickered around you. Your house filled with smoke. Where was everyone? Why couldn't you find a way out? The smoke filled your lungs, making you cough and gag. You were surrounded by the flames. It was all a dream. That's all you could think. The flames and the smell of smoke seemed so real. The circle got smaller and smaller until you had to accept the fate. An agonized scream left your mouth as the flames crawled up your body. This was it. This was the end of everything.

"Y/n! Y/n! Wake up!" Your body shook as you were jarred awake, a scream leaving your mouth. You were quickly grabbed and pulled into strong arms before your eyes fully opened. You trembled as uncontrollable sobs racked your whole body.

"Shhh, it's okay. It was just a dream." You heard the comforting voice coo to you. You wrapped your arms tightly around his waist as you buried your face into his shirt.

"It's okay. Just breath. In through your nose, out through your mouth." He said gently. After multiple failed attempts to calm your breathing, you finally relaxed as your eyes dried. You had cried to your hearts content, but more formed again.

"What happened?" He asked quietly as he started rubbing your back softly.

"I was in my house again. T-The way I died. Burned alive." Your chin quivered at the horrible memory again before more tears spilled out onto his already dampened shirt.

"That's in the past. You can't change anything that happened. And it wasn't your fault. And now look where you are. You have friends to help you. Plus your immortal as well. I promise, your okay." He sat you back so he could look at your tear-streaked face. You met his purple eyes before nodding, drawing in a shaky breath.

"I just wish I could see my family again... to tell them I'm alright." Another tear rolled down your cheek. Aether wiped it away with his thumb.

"Many of the ghouls and ghoulettes feel that way, but we can't. It saddens us very much, but that's why we have each other." He cooed softly. You took in a deep breath, exhaling loudly. You sniffed before wiping the back of your arm across your eyes. Aether reached over and handed you a tissue.

"Thanks." You whispered as you took it from him.

"Now, why don't you lay down and go back to sleep. I'll stay with you if you want." He said, moving you off his lap.

"Okay. Thank you." You sniffled again before crawling back underneath the blankets. Aether settled in beside you, taking you back in his arms. He pressed a kiss to you're forehead tenderly.

"You're welcome." He whispered. You slowly closed your eyes, the embrace of the ghoul around you comforting you back to a deep and blissful sleep.
