Sunshine knew there was something wrong since she woke up. Her stomach didn't feel right. She couldn't understand why. Her body seemed extra hot, which was unusual for her unless she was in heat, but she was due for weeks. She was nervous and jumpy in large rooms. It seemed the smaller the room, the more relaxed she was. Finally she gave up and made her way to Sodo's room right as the cramps set in. She shut the door, falling to the floor as she held her stomach. Sodo's scent was stale, meaning he hasn't been in his room probably this morning. She moved herself over to the couch, leaning against it as she sank her claws into the carpet. It was in a quick whoosh when she soaked her pants and carpet beneath her. She squinted in the deep light, looking at the mess she created. She as quickly as she could, removed her pants, choking at the sight of blood flowing from her. She let out a scream of help, fearing she was dying. The room grew hotter and hotter and she tossed off her jacket and shirt, leaving her cover in just her bra. Another shoot pain went across her stomach, making her double over in pain. Another whoosh of fluids continued to drench the floor. She was dying. She had to have been. Why was there so much blood and fluids? What wad happening to her? She let out a sob, her whole body going tense as she let out a scream, her claws digging into the carpet. All at once there was a cry that wasn't her own. She opened her eyes slowly, gasping softly as she looked down between her legs. A wet and shaking kit cried out for his mother. She reached out with shaking hands and took the kit, cradling it in her arms. She let out a sob of relief, looking at the kit closely. She rested for several minutes before starting to lick at the kit's fur that would start shedding in about 6 months. She still noticed that cord that attached her to him and nibbled it till it broke away. With small and tired breathes, she nursed the kit, resting her head back against the couch.
"Sunny?" A panicked voice said as the door opened. She opened her eyes, squinting at the figure that rushed forward, 2 others standing at the door.
"Sodo!" She let out a sob, seeing her mate bringing her a fresh set of tears.
"Shh, shh, it's okay darling. I'm here. I'm right here." He said, dropping to his knees beside her. "Get the medics!" He said quickly, Swiss nodding and rushing out of the room. Rain busied himself with gathering towels from the bathroom and laying them around Sunny, as well as handing her one to wrap the kit in.
"T-Thank you." She whispered, taking the towel gratefully.
"Did you know?" Sodo asked as she handed him the little kit.
"N-No. But- Sodo, there's another one coming!" She gasped, her eyes widened as another pain shoot across her. Rain let out a pained groan, running back into the bathroom and bringing every towel he could find.
"It's okay, I'm right here. You'll be okay!" Sodo said reassuringly, watching Rain settle between her legs, his sleeves rolled up.
"This one will be just as easy as the first, don't worry." Rain said quickly, flinching as she let out another pained scream. Rain grabbed the towel, holding it out as the kit fell into his hands.
"She's out Sunny, she's out!" Rain exclaimed, holding the kit out to Sodo. Sodo stared at his daughter, then looked back to his son.
"Oh Sunny, you did it!" Sodo whispered, taking the other kit into his arms beside her brother. She gave him a small smile, seeing the little bundles of fur, the mere size of Sodo's hands. Swiss was the first to enter the room, followed by 2 nurses and a doctor.
"Do you want to go down to the medbay?" The doctor asked as Rain cleaned up the wet towels.
"No." Sunny whispered weakly.
"I think we have it covered. Just make sure she is okay." Sodo said, standing up and handing the kit's to the nurses. The doctor set to work, checking Sunshine to make sure she would recover perfectly from the labor.
"Well, she doesn't have any more kits in there and seems fine, just tired. Give her a bath and let her rest." The doctor said, turning to look at the kit's. "And those fine as well." She gave Sodo and Sunshine a smile. Sodo took the kit's back from the nurses, looking over to the rest of the Ghouls who had gathered outside. The medics left the room and the ghoulettes rushed forward, already getting Sunshine into the bathroom.
"Well Sodo, you did it." Aether smiled proudly, seeing his bestfriend start to tear up as he looked down at his kits.
"What are you going to name them?" Rain asked, looking down at them in complete awe.
"I don't know. I want to talk about it with Sunshine first." He said, sitting himself down on the edge of the bed. Within minutes they had Sunny cleaned and dressed, putting on a very loose shirt to help with nursing. She settled into bed and took the kits, a tired smile on her face.
"What are we going to name them?" She asked, looking back at Sodo.
"I was thinking Celtic for the girl and Vulcan for the boy." Sodo said quietly.
"I like them." She smiled. Celtic gave a chirp, making a round of 'awes' go around the room. Sunny smiled up at Sodo, finally closing her eyes and falling asleep, curling up around her kits.
