Once again, it was that time of the year for the Potters to go to Diagon Alley. But this time, they were joined by Jack Dawson. Jack had enjoyed spending his summer with the Potters. They made him feel welcomed and loved.

James still didn't know that Brooklyn would be going to Hogwarts this year with him. Brooklyn and Jack wanted to get their Hogwarts uniforms without James noticing. They had asked Madam Malkin to put their uniforms in a bag so that James wouldn't notice.

"What did you two go to Madam Malkin's for?" James asked.

"Beauxbatons is changing their uniforms." Jack replied.

James bought what they were selling. He didn't notice anything else unusual that Jack and Brooklyn were getting. James was excited for his next year at Hogwarts and bragged about it to his sister and her friend.

Brooklyn ended up getting a new broom with the galleons that she was saving up. James was jealous that Brooklyn got a broom but he didn't. Euphemia had to explain that Brooklyn earned the broom because she brought it with her own money.

Brooklyn was told that Sirius's brother would be joining Hogwarts this year and was excited to meet the boy. James told her that Regulus wasn't exactly the best person to be hanging out around and strictly forbid her to become his friend just in case she was to ever meet him.

"James, I think you're being unreasonable." Brooklyn argued.

"Well I don't think you should hang around Regulus Black." James fired back. "Sirius says his whole family is awful. Why would Regulus be any different?"

"He could be different!" Brooklyn exclaimed. "You don't know that he's like the rest of his family in that sense."

"You're right, I don't know." James said. "But I could still be right, which is why I don't want you to see him. Ever."

"James!" Brooklyn exclaimed as they walked into Flourish and Blotts. "Don't think this conversation is over!"

"Yes it is!" James exclaimed as he went to look for the things he needed.

"Why do you two have to fight?" Jack asked.

"He's being unreasonable." Brooklyn replied.

"What if you just secretly try to get to know Regulus?" Jack suggested. "You know you don't have to tell James everything."

"I know but don't you think it will be weird keeping it from him?"

"Not really."

Brooklyn shrugged as she went to go get the things she needed. She had gotten exactly what James had gotten, just better looking things. She liked that her things were different from James's things from time to time.

Brooklyn was nervous to start Hogwarts and buying things just made her nerves settle in a little more. She was worried that she would be bullied like she was at Beauxbatons. She had no clue about what house she will be put in and she definitely doesn't want to be a Slytherin.

Brooklyn always thought she would be a Gryffindor, but now she's doubting it more and more. She hasn't shared how she felt with Jack because she was afraid that it would make her seem weak. She was far from weak.

Euphemia paid for their things and they exited the shop. She had promised the kids that she would allow them to get ice cream at Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlor. Now that they were finally done shopping, they were able to get ice cream.

They stepped into the little ice cream store and picked out their flavors. Euphemia paid while the kids went outside to find a table. They found a little circle table with four chairs and sat down, eating their ice cream.

"I can't believe it's almost time to start school again." Jack said.

"I know, it seems like just yesterday we got out of school." Brooklyn replied, taking a bite of her ice cream.

"Hopefully there will be another learning opportunity that you two could come for." James said.

Jack winked at Brooklyn and she was holding in a laugh. It was amusing to her that James still hasn't figured out the fact that she would not be going to Beauxbatons.

"Oh yeah, there should be another one. The last one was successful." Jack agreed.

"That's exactly why we should have another one." James added.

Brooklyn finished her ice cream and went to throw the plastic cup away when she suddenly felt her legs give up on her. She fainted as she fell to the ground. It would be a while before she was to wake up which worried her mother to death.

Brooklyn woke up in her bed with her head pounding. She couldn't recall what happened earlier in the day. Her door was open which was odd. Nobody ever left her door open. She got out of bed and stood up, wondering if she was alone or not.

She walked into the hallway and down the stairs to the guest bedroom. Jack was sound asleep in the bed and he was snoring a bit. Brooklyn chuckled as she walked to the kitchen. The clock on the stove read four o'clock. She sighed as she got an avocado out of the pantry. Mickey the house elf wasn't around. Today was his day off.

She cut the avocado into slices and started eating the slices. As she ate, she wondered where the rest of her family was. It was unusual for her family to be out. In the time that Jonathan had lived with them, she began to learn that the house could never be quiet when he was home. James wasn't quiet either.

Brooklyn felt weird being alone. She knew Jack was sleeping but she still was alone in the kitchen. Nobody was downstairs like usual. Her parents were usually in the parlor. She walked upstairs to James's room to find nobody there.

Brooklyn then checked Jonathan's room, once again, to find nobody there. So it was just Brooklyn and Jack in the house. Brooklyn was starting to get nervous because her parents always tell her when they are out. It was also weird that Jack was left behind. Her parents started taking Jack everywhere too.

A crack was heard in the hallway. Brooklyn stepped out of Jonathan's room to investigate. Her mother was standing in the hallway quickly fixing her dress before noticing Brooklyn watching her.

"Where were you mom?" Brooklyn asked.

"I went to see Dumbledore." Euphemia replied. "I'm glad to see you're awake."

"Why did you see Dumbledore?"

"That is none of your business." Euphemia said, attitude coating her words. "Has your father and the boys returned yet?"

"No they haven't," Brooklyn said. "Where were they?"

"Out getting dinner." Euphemia responded. "Now go tidy up and wake Jack up. Tell him to tidy up too. It's almost dinner time."

Brooklyn nodded. A couple thoughts floated around in her head. Why did her mother see Dumbledore? Why did she not want to tell Brooklyn why she went to see Dumbledore?
