Here Brooklyn was standing in front of the Great Hall doors but this time as a Hogwarts student. Jack stood by Brooklyn's side seeing as they were both about to get sorted. All of the first years had already been sorted. Now it was time for the transfer students. Brooklyn and Jack were the only two transfer students.
Jack was going to get sorted first but only based on his last name. Brooklyn was nervous that Jack wouldn't be in the same house as her. She could definitely see him getting into anything but Slytherin. Although they had both gotten into the "Slytherin of Beauxbatons" they had high hopes for the house that they would be sorted into and hoped it wouldn't be Slytherin.
Professor McGonagall opened the doors and the two best friends stepped back. Jack gave Brooklyn's hand a squeeze.
"Jack Dawson, it is your turn to be sorted." Professor McGonagall said.
"Now we will begin sorting our transfer students." Professor Dumbledore announced. "Jack Dawson is our first transfer student. Mr. Dawson please step forward and allow yourself to be sorted."
Jack sat on the three-legged stool. The sorting hat was placed on his head. Brooklyn watched from afar and she held her breath.
"Gryffindor!" The sorting hat shouted.
The students inside the Great Hall were clapping and James was cheering loudly.
"Our next transfer student is Brooklyn Potter!" Dumbledore announced. "Miss Potter, please make your way up to the stool and allow yourself to be sorted."
Brooklyn felt all eyes on her as she stepped forward. She sat down on the three-legged stool and the sorting hat was placed on her head. Her hands felt clammy as she waited for the sorting hat to talk.
"Now where do I place you?" The sorting hat asked inside her head. "You will do well in Ravenclaw. You are wise and creative, both wonderful attributes of a Ravenclaw. But you value courage and loyalty, both attributes of a Gryffindor. Your brother was placed in Gryffindor, along with your parents. So which shall it be? Gryffindor or Ravenclaw?"
"Whatever is best." Brooklyn whispered.
"Gryffindor!" The sorting hat shouted.
The hall burst out into more cheers. James was the loudest. He was happy for his sister to finally join him at Hogwarts. He knew how much it meant for her to be close to him. Brooklyn ran to go sit with her friends at the Gryffindor table.
Brooklyn sat down next to her brother who gave her a huge hug.
"I didn't know you were coming to Hogwarts!" James exclaimed.
"Yeah it was a surprise!" Brooklyn replied. "Hi Peter, Remus, and Sirius."
"Nice to see you again Brooklyn." Sirius said.
"Brooke! I missed you! You barely wrote over the summer." Remus complained.
"I know I'm sorry." Brooklyn apologized. "I didn't mean to not write much, it sort of just happened. Anyways, what are you up to lately? Read any good books?"
"Actually, I have." Remus said. "I found one that I'm pretty sure you'll like. I brought it with me so that I could mail it to you, but I guess I don't have to do that anymore."
"I guess not." Brooklyn smiled.
"Can we talk about anything but books?" Sirius whined.
"Fine." Remus rolled his eyes, Sirius was already annoying him.
"How come we didn't see you two on the train?" James inquired.
"We kind of snuck on so that you wouldn't see us." Jack replied. "We were just trying to surprise you."
"So that's why you two brought all your things huh?" James asked.
"Yep," Brooklyn replied. "We tried to play it off as if we were going to Beauxbatons afterwards. How good is the feast?"
"It's always good on the first day," Peter said. "After that, it's still good but not as good."
"Interesting." Jack said.
"Are you two nervous at all for tomorrow?" Remus asked.
"Not really," Jack said. "Although I am nervous about who I'll be rooming with. We haven't got any information."
"They don't say anything until after the feast because you have to look at the doors and that will tell you." Sirius said.
"How do we know which floor we're on?" Brooklyn asked.
"First years are on the first floor, which is the floor above the common room." James said. "Basically whatever year you are, you'll be on that floor level."
"Wouldn't the first years technically be on the second level?" Brooklyn asked.
"Nope because the common room doesn't count as a floor, I think it technically counts as a ground floor, although it's not on the ground." Remus replied.
"Oh." Was Brooklyn's only response before the food appeared on the table.

After the feast, the Gryffindors headed to the common room. Brooklyn already knew how to get to the common room, but needed her memory refreshed. She looked around the common room in awe. No matter what, she couldn't get used to the beauty of it.
Lily dragged Brooklyn along to find out what room they were in. They went up the stairs and to the "second floor" and checked every door. They finally reached a door that read the names: Marlene McKinnon, Nailea McKinnon, Lily Evans, Alice Fortescue, and Brooklyn Potter.
"Oh my goodness, I can't believe we're roommates!" Lily exclaimed. "It's not like I totally requested you to be my roommate."
"How did you even know I was coming to Hogwarts?" Brooklyn wondered. "I thought you had to put in a request months ahead of time."
"I accidentally overheard you and Jack talking about transferring."
"That makes much more sense. Now are we going to enter or not?" Brooklyn asked.
"Oh yeah!" Lily said, totally forgetting that they were standing in the hallway still.
Lily opened up the door. There were five four-poster board beds with red canopies. Brooklyn was in even more awe. This room was better than the room they had last year. The room was at least two times bigger and it now had two bathrooms. Brooklyn's name was engraved into the bed frame. She smiled as she opened up her trunk. She got out a book and laid on her bed.
The rest of the girls soon entered and were happy that Brooklyn was now their roommate. They stayed up talking for hours and went to bed around midnight. Brooklyn felt happy now that she was at Hogwarts with some of her best friends.
