James and Sirius were bothering Brooklyn about trying out for the Gryffindor quidditch team. Brooklyn wanted to play but always had a hard time playing it as an actual sport. She loved playing it with just her family and not on a team.
Over the summer, Jack got to witness just how good Brooklyn was at quidditch. She made an excellent chaser. He also got to witness James play chaser as well. He thought they both did an excellent job.
Remus thought trying out or joining the team would be good for Brooklyn's social skills. She really didn't have much of a social life or talked to people on a consistent basis. She got mad at him when he told her this.
"Remus, I do in fact have a social life!" Brooklyn exclaimed as the two walked to dinner.
"If you call sitting in your dorm, reading a book with only the company of your owl, then sure you do have a social life." Remus said.
"There's no need to call me out like that." Brooklyn sighed. "Maybe I will try out."
"You should." Remus replied. "You've got nothing to lose. You're an excellent chaser and you need some social skills. You can't hide in your little shell forever."
"I can indeed." Brooklyn said.
"Not if you want to be an Auror." Remus said.
Brooklyn sighed as she sat down at the table across from Sirius. He looked up at her and smiled.
"Brooke!" Sirius beamed.
"Don't call me that." Brooklyn huffed.
"Why not?" Sirius asked. "Everyone else calls you that."
Brooklyn ignored Sirius and focused on eating.

Brooklyn got changed and walked out onto the quidditch field. She had given into James and decided to try out. She stood next to James and he wrapped his arm around her shoulder. The Gryffindor quidditch captain was Dawn Kent. She was blonde with grey eyes. She was strikingly beautiful. Dawn stepped forward and waited for everyone to quiet down.
"Thank you all for being here today." Dawn said. "I would love to get to know each and every one of you. But first, we are going to do some drills. James Potter, I would like you to be chaser, Brooklyn Potter I would like you to also be a chaser. Gideon and Fabian, please be beaters. Cody Jefferson, seeker. Sirius, I'd like you to be a chaser. I will be the keeper."
Brooklyn mounted her broomstick. She felt a little nervous about tryouts but she knew that they would end up going okay. Brooklyn flew up into the air, the feeling of cool air on her skin. Her red hair blew in the wind. She felt so alive up in the air.
Brooklyn started moving now and passing the quaffle to her peers. She was actually pretty good for not practicing in months. She loved the feeling of playing quidditch. It was her escape other than reading.
Sirius was happy to find out that Brooklyn was trying out. He knew that she was going to do it even though she was unsure of it. He glanced at her and smiled. He liked watching her having fun.
Brooklyn ignored Sirius and focused on the game. His very insensitive comment was still in the back of her mind. She wouldn't be able to forget it for years. Sirius was unaware of why Brooklyn was mad at him and just assumed that she was in a bad mood whenever he would talk to her. If only he knew how much his comment hurt.
"Alright, that's game!" Dawn shouted.
Brooklyn flew down to the ground and waited for Dawn to talk to the team.
"Alright, there was some pretty good flying out there." Dawn said. "You all are going to make this decision pretty hard to make. I'd like to point out Brooklyn Potter's flying out there. You did wonderful. I've never seen someone do that well just for tryouts. Congrats. The list will be posted in the Gryffindor common room by 11pm tonight. Thank you all. You're dismissed."
James pulled Brooklyn into a hug.
"Wonderful job, sis." James smiled.
"Thank you Jamie." Brooklyn beamed.
They went to their separate locker rooms to get changed and then headed back to the school.

Brooklyn was happy that she decided to try out. She may not get a spot on the team but she wouldn't be disappointed in that. She thought that things were finally looking up. She's been pretty sad lately for unknown reasons and it may be due to Sirius.
James sat down next to Brooklyn on the couch. She was quietly reading her book when James rudely interrupted.
"So, what are you reading?" James practically yelled in Brooklyn's ear.
"Leave me alone, Jamie." Brooklyn said, pushing James away.
"Why?" James whined.
"I'm trying to read." Brooklyn stated like it was obvious (which it was).
"But there's less than thirty minutes until the team list is posted."
"Okay and? I still have time to read."
"But it's so exciting!"
"Jamie, leave me alone."
"Fine." James pouted and left to go bother Remus.
Brooklyn rolled her eyes and went back to reading.
It wasn't even five minutes before James came back to bother Brooklyn.
"Brooke!" James shouted. "It was posted! I'm waiting for you so we can see it together."
"Okay." Brooklyn said, getting up.
They got up and walked over to the list. Brooklyn scanned the list of names:
Keeper - Dawn Kent
Beaters - Fabian Prewett, Gideon Prewett
Seeker - Cody Jefferson
Chasers - James Potter, Sirius Black, Brooklyn Potter
"Brooke! We both got chasers!" James shouted.
Brooklyn smiled and cheered as James picked her up, spinning her around.
"Good job, little sis, I'm so proud of you." James smiled.
"Thank you, Jamie." Brooklyn replied, smiling as she shook her head. "I'm so proud of you too."
Sirius walked up to the twins, a smile on his face.
"Look, it's my fellow chasers!" Sirius exclaimed. "Brooklyn, I may be a chaser but I'm for sure a keeper."
"Sirius, stop using pickup lines on my sister!" James yelled.
Brooklyn gave James a kiss on the cheek before heading off to bed.
