Contrary to popular belief, I do still play Quidditch.
Ravenclaws gather on the Quidditch Pitch as we await the Quidditch captain to arrive. Oh wait, that's me. I clear my throat to get everyone's attention. "Alright, so.. this afternoon I will be putting you all through a few drills just to assess your strengths. And remember, just because you made the team last year does not guarantee you a spot this year, okay? There are many of you and only 6 other positions to fill. I wish I could take you all I really do, but there are rules." I say, looking out at the crowd of blue. "First off, are there any first years here?" A few students reluctantly raise their hands. "Sorry guys, try again next year." I say, gesturing for them to exit the pitch. "Right, next up I'm gonna have you all get into groups. Chasers over there, Beaters there and Keepers here." I say, pointing to certain spots on the field.
One kid raises his hand. "Er, what about Seekers?"
I blink. "I'm a seeker. I'm not going anywhere."
"Oh." He mumbles as he and a few more kids walk off.
I look over to the few Ravenclaws that were left. Two Keepers, 6 Chasers and 4 Beaters. "Good. We have enough for two teams." I announce. "Each group, split in half, and there you have your teams. Let's play some Quidditch!" I grab my clipboard with a bit of parchment attached to it before scribbling down each position and then blowing my whistle.
The tryouts commence, and the pitch erupts into a whirlwind of activity. The Quaffle darts back and forth, weaving through the air as chasers from both teams vie for control. I watch intently, analyzing their every move, searching for the spark of brilliance that will set them apart. The beaters unleash the Bludgers, their bats swinging with precision as they send the iron balls hurtling towards their opponents. The air is alive with the sound of impact, each thwack echoing across the pitch like thunder.
As the trial progresses, my attention shifts to the goalposts, where the keepers sit poised and ready. Shots come flying from all directions, each one a test of skill and determination. I watch as they dive and twist, their movements fluid and graceful as they strive to keep the Quaffle from slipping through their grasp. As the sun begins to set, I blow the final whistle, signaling the end of the tryouts. The players land their brooms, their chests heaving with exertion, but smiles of satisfaction gracing their faces.
"Well done, everyone!" I announce, addressing the gathered crowd of hopefuls. "I've seen some exceptional talent on display today. Remember, being a part of the Ravenclaw Quidditch team isn't just about skill—it's about teamwork, strategy, and a relentless pursuit of excellence." I say, looking down at my notes once more.
Seeker: Atticus Gaunt (Captain.) Chaser1: Cho Chang Chaser2: Stella Gaunt Chaser3: Stewart Ackerley Beater1: Terry Boot Beater2: Michael Corner Keeper: Marcus Belby
What a fine team I've come up with, if I do say so myself.
