Daryl
The sun rises. I carried the lifeless body in my arms, holding her tight as I made my way down the road. I was able to escape the whispering walkers. It wasn't really easy, but I think it had something to do with Mer keeping me safe. The smell of her dead body was able to cover my living smell from the real dead out there, but somehow, escaping the people hidden behind the masks, it was shocking almost.
In the distance, I could see everyone sitting and waiting around. They've got the horses rounded u together, one of them with Jesus' body slung over it. The second everyone caught sight of me, they all stood up and lined up together. Michonne was the first to approach me, grabbing my arm and giving me a sad look. I throw her a nod, silently letting her know that I was okay. I wasn't, but I know I will be eventually.

Daryl stood over the newly grounded up dirt, a pile of rocks sitting perfectly at the top indicating a headstone. He stood there silently, staring at the grave he'd just dug up for the one person he'd love most of his life. Daryl would replay all the memories he had with Meredith, from beginning to end. From the moment she'd fallen into his arms, stopping his brother from potentially killing her. From realizing how much he'd cared for her. From knowing how much he loved her. How much he'd do anything to protect her. Keep her out of dangers way, but always knowing she'd be able to take care of herself, how she'd never stop reminding him of the fact.
Daryl knew if his younger self were to meet his current self, he'd laugh. Mock him for even being in such a relationship with a girl, maybe even in complete disbelief. Daryl always told himself he'd never fall in love. He wasn't the type of guy to love someone. Never knew he was even capable of it. He'd always follow his brother's lead, doing whatever they wanted, no job, no responsibilities- nothing. Daryl didn't want that sort of life when he got older. But he knew once the world ended, it was a brand new awakening for his life. He knew he was built for it. Knew he'd survive, knew he'd watch everyone around him die a painful death. But he never imagined him loving somebody so much that it hurt him. Almost suffocated him even. Still, it reminded him of being on drugs, claiming he loved the feeling of it.
Daryl knew Meredith's death would eat him up. He knew he'd be hanging low, wanting to give up, wanting to lay somewhere and let the feelings chew him alive. But he knew with the people who were still standing, they needed him. He couldn't just give up right then and there just to be with the love of his life. He knew he needed to keep going. That night, Daryl made her a promise- a promise no matter how hard things got, he wouldn't give up. He wouldn't look back. He wouldn't let the past get ahold of him. He wouldn't let himself get angry to the point of getting himself killed. He wanted to keep going for Meredith, to keep himself alive for her honor. And that's exactly what he's doing.
Daryl's hand fills with another. He hardly glances over his shoulder to see Rosita standing next to him, staring down at the grave below their noses. She inhales deeply, her grip on his hand tightening. Daryl lightly nods his head at her. He knew Michonne would be asking him how he was doing at any given moment.
"I'm gonna be..." He slowly shuts his eyes. "I'm gonna be fine." He promised her. Rosita's brows furrow as she gives him a nod.
"I know you will be." She says softly. "It just..." She let's out a sigh. "doesn't feel real that she's gone. I always thought she'd be the one person I wouldn't lose. I always thought that...after Abraham, she'll always be there. That I'd be the one to go before her. I lost my best friend and it hasn't even sunken in me." Daryl's eyes grow with tears. He holds nothing back in letting them fall down in his cheeks. His head hangs low as he begins to sob uncontrollably. Rosita's brows pull together, eyes brimming with tears. She turns her body and wraps her arms around him, holding onto Daryl tightly and allowing him to sob without any shame. Rosita knew things would be hard for the both of them for a while. Meredith's death would hurt all communities for a while, but it would leave a permanent mark on the ones closest to her forever.
So...I know a lot of ya'll are fairly shocked, maybe heart broken, maybe mad or something, and I get that. I understand your feelings haha. But let me explain...
YES. I know the ending was most likely complete and utter shit, but I wanted this book to end this way. I had done it for a reason. I loved this book, I loved writing it, there was nothing ever wrong with it. It was just the way the book was gonna go. It was an amazing experience to write this book and be able to finish it and all. I'm honestly happy I was able to finish this book because I'm able to go back and finish another one of my Daryl Dixon books, the character who happens to be his sister. That book WILL be from start to finish, meaning from season 1 to season 11. It will end that way. I'm not telling you how the book ends, but know it ends the same way the show ends.
I've written a few The Walking Dead stories before, pretty sure I've just deleted them cause I was fairly young and thought that they were straight ass so I just tossed them, but I am always more than happy to continue writing new stories with different characters. Like the character could be in love with Rick, could be Rick's sister, who happens to fall in love with Daryl or vise versa. OR I could do a Glenn Rhee book where the character is practically in Maggie's point of view, but of course with a few of my own twists and different things and such. Who know what I might pull. Just know I'm always opened to writing more stories on this show. Just because this book is ending the other might be ending soon, doesn't mean I'll stop writing these types of stories.
Feel free to let me know how this book did, how shitty or scrappy it was, how much you liked or hated it. Let me know! Now, this book MIGHT go under some heavy editing as I wanna fix any grammar errors, anything I might've skipped out or messed up while writing this, so you might get a few updates or whatevers in the near future, so just know I'll most likely end up editing this book to make it a little bit better.
To end on this note, thank you, thank you, thank you soooo much for reading this story and getting a crazy amount of views and such. I really appreciate you all for wanting to sit down and take the time to read my works, even if I think they suck ass. But I'm still very appreciated by you all. I wouldn't have continued writing this book if it weren't for any of you.
Feel free to share it or recommend this book to your friends, or not- if you're like me who keeps this type of shit hidden because people who write Wattpad stories are weirdos apparently...LOL. Hey, writing helps me escape the real world and keeps me from unaliving myself, it's my favorite little hobby I get to do and it keeps me going in live so ha!
Let me stop.
Okay, have a wonderful day or night, whenever you're reading this! I hope you all comment any questions, comments, concerns down in the comment section, my DM's or mesage board, wherever and I'll be sure to answer and get back to you as soon as I can.
Thank you again and I really appreciate you all! :)
