Sage Sloan is the younger sister of Mark Sloan. She grew up with the Shepherd family along with her brother until she enlisted in the Army. 9 years later and Sage moved to Seattle to become a surgical intern.

I walked into the gallery where Derek was observing Chief Webber in surgery. Derek looked at me as I sat down.
"Where have you been hiding?" Derek asked.
"Gym and then I had therapy," I said watching the Chief struggling to stitch up the colon. "What's wrong with Webber?" I asked. He then dropped a retractor as a nurse handed it to him.
"I don't know but I'd better find out," Derek said. "Go find something to do," Derek left. I went to find Dr Bailey.
"Dr Sloan weren't you on Dr Shepherd's service?" Dr Bailey asked.
"Yes but he's told me he doesn't need me as he has no surgeries at the moment. Is there anything you need me to do?"
"Go run the pit," Dr Bailey said.
"Run it?" I asked.
"Yeah. But get consults," Dr Bailey said.

I was sitting eating lunch with Izzie and Cristina. Alex and George walked over.
"Hey, syph-boy," Cristina said to George.
"You told her?" George asked Izzie.
"Just Cristina," Izzie said. George looked at me.
"I found out from a nurse. Sorry George," I said.
"Syph-boy." It's got a nice ring to it, it's kinda like Superboy, only diseased," Alex said.
"Sounds like your role model," I said.
"You know it, baby," Alex smirked.
"Izzie didn't have to say a word. Around here, the only thing that spreads faster than disease is gossip," Cristina said.
"That's not true. Just cause Izzie can't keep her mouth shut doesn't mean everyone knows," George said sitting down. Meredith walked over and sat down.
"Hey, George. How are you feeling? Sorry about the syphilis," Meredith said.
"Everyone in this hospital knows?" George asked.
"Knows you're a player," Alex said.
"You're disturbed," George said.
"True. Everybody's got a secret. Just be glad yours is out in the open," Alex said.
"Oh, yeah, Alex? What's yours?" Cristina asked.
"You show me yours, and I'll show you mine," Alex said. "I bet you've got some seriously kinky skeletons in your closet,"
"What's in my closet is none of your business," Cristina said.
"Well, I don't have any secrets. My life is boring," Izzie said.
"Everybody's got something to hide," Meredith said. We all turned to look at her.
"Very ominous Grey," I said.

I was suturing people up in the pit. I finished with a patient. Dr Bailey called me over. She pulled me into the trauma room.
"What have I done?" I asked.
"You weren't in the conference room. So I'm asking you as your resident if you're having unprotected sex with any of the staff?" Dr Bailey asked.
"I don't have Syph. I regularly get screened down at the VA," I said.
"Okay," Dr Bailey said.

Meredith had pulled Dr Bailey and me aside to ask us to scrub in on Chief Webber's surgery where Derek was removing his brain tumor. Derek ran over.
"How goes out special super secret silent sunset surgery?" Derek asked. "I've been practising that," Derek smiled like a proud child.
"You have too much time on your hands. Uh, tell the chief I'll be there. Just let me know when and where. I'm in," Dr Bailey walked off.
"Dr Sloan?" Derek asked. I rolled my eyes flicking him in the head.
"I can't make it. I'm picking up a friend from the airport," I said.
"Also have you been tested?" Derek asked.
"Der, I love you but I'm not talking about my sex life with you," I said.
"I'm being a concerned big brother," Derek said.
"No you're being an idiot," I said. Meredith's pager went off.
"See you later," Meredith said walking off.
"Who are you picking up from the airport?" Derek asked.
"Addison. She's leading the TTTS case we admitted last week," I said. "Which means that you need to tell Meredith,"
"Why are you picking her up?" Derek asked.
"Because she's my best friend Derek. It's a nice thing to do," I said. "She's also staying with me,"

I was standing at the baggage claim. Addison walked over with her bags.
"Hey," Addison smiled pulling me into a hug.
"Hey," I said. "Let's get you back to my place. Fresh pancake ingredients have been bought," I said taking her suitcase.
"What surgery did you give up to come to pick me up?" Addison asked as we walked through the airport.
"Uh, brain surgery. You'll find out sooner or later," I said. We got to my car.
"How much does me being here affect you?" Addison asked.
"It's great. I love when you come to visit. We had a great time on my birthday," I said.
"Yeah but now I'm working at the hospital where your friend is and I'm the wife of her boyfriend," Addison said.
"Derek knows you're coming. I told him I was picking you up so I'm hoping he had some sense and told Meredith," I said.
"What if your friends are mad at you?" Addison asked.
"I can take having people being mad at me Ads," I said.
"Do you mind stopping off at the hospital?" Addison asked.
"Okay," I said. I drove us to the hospital. "I'm staying in the car,"
"Okay," Addison said. She smiled at me. "I've missed your stupid face you know,"
"Yeah, I know. I missed you too," I said. Addison got out of my car.
