Alex and I walked into Jackson's room where Dr Bailey was.

"Dr Bailey," Alex said. Dr Bailey walked over to us. "I just called U. N. O. S. Jackson's officially at the top of the list for a liver and small bowel,"

"And I've reached out to every military hospital in the country. I'm waiting for calls back," I said.

"They can't come soon enough. His ammonia level's starting to rise," Dr Bailey said.

"I thought the shunt was supposed to buy us 24 hours. Isn't that what you said, that it should give us 24 hours?" Melinda asked.

"Melinda, we're doing everything that we can," Dr Bailey said.

"I know. I-I know you are," Melinda said. Dr Bailey's pager went off.

"Uh, excuse me," Dr Bailey walked out.

Timeskip

I was sitting at the nurses' station.

"Hey, we've got you breakfast," Addison said walking over with Charlie and Harry.

"Thank you," I said as Addison handed me a breakfast burrito and an apple juice.

"These two are going to sit with you and I'm going to get you coffee," Addison said. "Double shot?"

"Triple please," I said. Addison kissed my cheek before walking off. Charlie sat on one knee and Harry sat on my other. I sat eating my burrito listening to them talking to me about their day yesterday. "Sounds like you both had fun,"

"We did," Harry said.

"What did you do yesterday?" Charlie asked.

"I operated on a little boy and I made a lot of phone calls," I said.

"Is the little boy going to be okay?" Charlie asked.

"We're going to do our best," I said.

Timeskip

I went to check on Jackson's mother Melinda.

"Ms Prescott, have you had anything to eat today? You should really keep your strength up. Get a cup of coffee or some food. I'll stay here with Jackson," I said.

"Thank you," Melinda said before walking out.

Timeskip

I was in the pit suturing up a little boy's head lac. The little boy was wearing a Batman costume.

"Lieutenant, you're being reassigned to Dr Bailey's Peds case," Hunt said.

"Okay. Just let me finish up Batman's sutures," I said. The little boy giggled. I handed him a lollipop once I finished.

"Thank you," The little boy smiled.

"You're welcome," I smiled taking the gloves off. I headed up to Peds as Jackson's monitor started beeping.

"His I. C. P. is not going under 25," Alex told Bailey and Robbins.

"Is the catheter occluded?" Dr Robbins asked.

"It's fine," Alex said.

"All right, try adjusting the height of the drip chamber, and let's raise his bed up another 10 degrees," Dr Robbins said.

"What'll that do?" I asked.

"Not much," Dr Robbins told me.

"Jackson. Jackson, you listen to Mommy. It is not time. You do not get to go yet. You have to stay here with me. You hear me? You stay with Mommy. It is not time, baby. I love you, and I need you to fight. I need you to fight, Jackson," Melinda said.

Timeskip

I was sitting at the nurses' station calling anyone I could.

"Any luck?" Dr Robbins asked.

"Nothing yet but I've reached out to European military hospitals," I said. "I'll keep trying," I said as Jackson's monitors started beeping again. We rushed in.

"I. C. P. is still way too high," Dr Robbins said.

"I just gave him hypertonic saline," Alex said.

"When was his last lorazepam?" Dr Robbins asked.

"I gave him a bolus 20 minutes ago," I said.

"Put him on a drip with vec and put him on a bis monitor," Dr Robbins said to Alex. "Uh, check with U. N. O. S. again. Whatever Bailey's doing, I hope to hell she's having better luck than we are,"

Timeskip

Melinda and I were standing outside the room.

"He's just a little boy. He's never had a sleepover. He's never learned to ride a bike. I need to be with him. He's never been anywhere without me. He can't go alone. I need to be with him," Melinda said.

"No. You are here with him. You're here for him even though you aren't in the room. You are. You are here for him," I said.

"Dr Bailey says you need to come now," Alex said walking over.

"It's time to hold him. He's going, Melinda. Hold him and help him go," Dr Bailey said to Melinda. Melinda moved to hug Jackson.

"We have organs. We have organs! Get him to OR three now," Dr Webber yelled just as Jackson's vitals started to drop.

"Starting C. P. R. push . 35 of epi," I said beginning CPR.

"Get me a bicarb," Alex said.

Timeskip

We were in the OR operating on Jackson.

"Finishing the vena cava," Dr Robbins said.

"Releasing the clamp," Dr Bailey said. "Okay, any black spots,"

"Looks clean," Alex said.

"You see anything Montgomery-Sloan?" Dr Bailey asked.

"No ma'am. All looks good," I said.

"He's coding," Dr Robbins said. "Start CPR. Get the crash cart over here," I started CPR.

Timeskip

I walked into the house. Charlie was playing with Ace on the floor. Harry was curled up with a blanket over him.

"Hey," Addison said walking over to me. I kissed her.

"Hey," I said.

"How did your patient do?" Addison asked.

"We got him the organs and he woke up just before I left," I said. Harry walked over and latched himself onto my leg. I crouched down to his level. "Hey, little man. What's wrong?" He looked down at his stomach. "Is it hurting?" He nodded.

"We've been home a while. Why didn't you say earlier that you didn't feel well?" Addison asked. Harry shrugged. "You tell us from now on if you don't feel well or you're hurting okay?" Harry nodded.

"How about I make some grilled cheese and tomato soup?" I asked. Harry nodded. "Charlie, do you want a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup?"

"Can I just have a grilled cheese please?" Charlie asked.

"Sure," I said. "Ads, do you want one?" She hummed kissing my cheek before scooping up Harry in her arms and walking over to the couch. Charlie moved to curl up on the other side of Addison.
